I have only ever got my Vista machine to work 1 time when flashing the phone. I finally just gave up and used my XP laptop and never had a problem since.

I have used the kitchen many times under Vista-32 straight "out of the box" with no additional drivers or patches without any difficulty.

i haven't had any issues with Vista x64 and I'm not using any of the "workarounds" that are out there that are supposedly needed to get it to work either

The key to no longer needing to hack drivers for Vista is downloading the latest version of Windows Mobile Device Center (6.1). Install that and the built-in drivers should work fine.
The only other wrinkle is that you will need to disable UAC or set the Rom Upgrade Utility to run as Administrator. |

I had that problem and the fix was to change the driver version used while the phone is in bootloader mode.. If you look in device manager while the phone is connected and in bootloader mode you will see a pocket pc device... I downloaded the version 4.1 driver and used it instead of the 6.x driver and things started working.
