it still autoscales so you have to do something that will push your procesor up to the peak speed, and catch it there...

Performance 520mhz:
Whetstones MFlop 5195ms
Whetstones MOPS 1588ms
Whetstones MWIPS 10361ms

Performance 624mhz:
Whetstones MFlop 5208ms
Whetstones MOPS 1585ms
Whetstones MWIPS 10332ms

So... weird. Will play with this some more and figure out what's going on - possibly its all in my head ;)

Not sure what's going on... maybe it's not actually working after all...
xcpuscaler 520mhz:
Whetstones MFlop 3816ms
Whetstones MOPS 882ms
Whetstones MWIPS 7899ms

Those are the results you would expect - 25% faster. xcpuscaler seems unstable under WM6 but it clearly speeds things up.

nuguy 11-13-2007 11:13 AM

after using it a short while, it definitly does speed things up, not as much as xcpu, but I like it, I can finaly get rid of autostep...

What's odd is that I 'think' my phone (6700) runs faster @ 520 than @ 624.
Could be just my head messing with me.

Other than that, I've been running HTC Performance since the WM6 kitchen came out, and it's been stable for me. No issues. (well, check that, 1 weird graphic lockup, but that could be due to dropping my phone a few times).

Ok, more testing....

I have no idea what its doing. using pocket hack master to view low level settings:
HTC Perf. off: - cpu 312 bus 208 mem104 lcd 104/sticky engine
HTC Perf. on, either speed:- cpu 312 bus 208 mem104 lcd 104/sticky engine

So no change - but for some reason, it sure feels snappier with it on.

Apparently this utility came from Helmi_c.

microfirmz1 11-14-2007 11:36 AM

Chances are it just raises the bar on how fast the cpu can work. so you would only see it in a high-use time. can someone try streaming a video and then use one of the programs to clock the cpu?

schettj 11-14-2007 12:42 PM

Well, the spb perf tests are running CPU at 100% - and they're not running any faster with any of the HTC Performance settings.

So I don't think that's it. I'm thinking maybe (just maybe!) the overclocking isn't working. But, what might be working is the min speed of 300ish mhz is higher then then default setting... so in general use it would feel snappier.

Clearly, it never does actually overclock beyond 416mhz.

Torx 11-14-2007 01:20 PM

wow, alot of overclockers here.. i still havent clocked mine yet.

i gotta try this!

Zlog 11-14-2007 01:59 PM

HTC Camera seems to load faster on 520 then stock, and then faster on 624 then 520.

So it seems to be working sometimes maybe??? /boggle

schettj 11-14-2007 02:42 PM

I know Zlog... it's really weirding me out too. None of the benchmarks show a speed improvement, but it sure feels snappier with "overclocking" on. I've decided to not worry about it, and leave it on. It just makes me happy even if it does nothing at all ;)
