Being dependent upon a numeric IP isn't a great idea. Here is an updated hostname for you instead: pcs-mmsc.sun3.lightsurf.net

Changing mms.sprintpcs.com to pcs-mmsc.sun3.lightsurf.net didn't work for me, but changing to 63.215.195.152 works.

I don't use sprint, but that's strange. It is the same server, so it must be that the dns isn't resolving for some reason. I guess the numeric is the way to go if it works. Is anyone on sprint able to make this work without using the numeric ip address?

I for one have never had a problem using the name. I suspect it's specific DNS servers some Sprint users are being assigned.

Another solution is to use OpenDNS DNS servers for the Sprint connection. I actually had that set up for different reasons in the Sprint ExtROM OEM in previous kitchens... but I reverted it back to use server-assigned DNS addresses in this kitchen to keep things more "stock".

I'm trying to figure out a good way to allow one to choose OpenDNS servers as part of the buildos process--have a few ideas but nothing solid yet. In the meantime I have set the Sprint extrom OEM to use the IP address for now.

I was not able to make it work using the FQDN, I had to use the IP Address.
