Apache WM6 Kitchen CE OS 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0) Bugs/Patches
This is the bug collection thread for the Apache WM6 Kitchen CE OS 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0) kitchen. I'll gather bugs into this first message, so folks don't need to poke all over to find them. Please note that this thread is for bugs occurring in the ROMs produced via the kitchen, the file contents of it's OEM packages, or problems with their configuration or interaction. Bugs related to BuildOS,the tool used to compile/flash the ROM images, should be posted to it's bug thread.

When trying to build the rom I get an error that it cannot find PPCGEEKS_OEM.rar. Do I absolutley need this file to create my own ROM? If not how do I get around this?
Thank you, |

The kitchen itself no longer contains anything "extra"--so it's just the stock stuff plus a handful of other things (the carrier customization packages, for one). You can bypass the message about missing ppcgeeks_oem.rar just fine, but you'll notice the list of OEMs is quite short.
I recommend adding the ppcgeeks_oem.rar file to the root of the kitchen (note: don't unrar it!) and re-run buildos... you'll notice a lot of new items to choose from. |

It seems I can't even create a rom with out it, unless I am doing something wrong. See the error message below
|
Save your selections to a txt file.
From here on out, it would help out alot if you have an issue, save your selections to a txt file, and post that file with your post in this thread, so that we may see exactly what was installed so we can better help replicate/solve the issue you are having.
Also, on the lil window that pop's up during the build, you can also save that to a txt file. That would also help us see exactly what happened during the build. |

Here's a solution, if you don't want to download PPCGeeks_OEM.rar.
Download the attached NoOEM.zip, extract to your installation directory (it may ask you about overwriting files...click yes/ok). Run createshortcuts.bat in your install directory. Use the NoOEM shortcut on your desktop to start BuildOS without PPCGeeks_OEM.rar |
It's hard not to exceed the maximum memory..there are so many good choices and so little memory, a memory meter would be amazing....but I am not complaining one bit..

Okay i guess i'll write this one up. Same thing happened in VerizonGuy's kitchen, contacts don't show up when you start typing a name in the "new" messaging line. VerizonGuy fixed it in his latest release, so maybe he's got an easy fix for this.

MMS ISSUE:
Cannot choose .jpg's from within the Arcsoft application. I can however highlight a jpg and select "Send" which will bring up the message menue. However upon sending the MMS message I recieve an error that my message could not be sent. I use Sprint and verified the server settings, everything there looks good, but no go. |
Can't run the kitchen
I can't run the kitchen to see if things work. I tried both the default "install" folder and a seperate one and both give me the same error (see below). I tried to start just the app itself, but it gave me a big list of missing files. Any help to get this fixed would be great.
http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/6941/errorpw4.png I'm running on Vista x64, if that makes any difference |

i'm having trouble building the rom. it gets to what appears to be the last step and i get a windows error saying that the program failed to find MSVCR71.dll and that reinstalling the program might fix the problem. i see that file in the TOOLS\ folder, but i'm not sure where windows is looking for it.

If that works, you can thank luv2chill for it... |
I just built a basic clean ROM from the new kitchen and had to put the phone in bootloader mode before hitting the first next button in the flash utility. If I didn't it would say can't find phone or something like that.

Any other sprint users get MMS to work? I am really starting to hate picture messaging....I can't figure out for the life of me why one in one kitchen it works, and in another it refuses to work when all the server settings are the same.
|
I just sent a picture through to my work e-mail address and sent and received ok. I really appreciate the work that went into this to all that were invloved. Still playing with it but no problems so far.
Great Job.... |
tfoose..are you on sprint?

I have the HTC Vogue dialer and a fairly basic ROM installed from the kitchen. As I was setting up everything it seems the screen kept returning to the dialer view (sometimes the keypad and other times the in call screen). For instance, any time I installed a program from a .cab and hit OK after it was done it went to the dialer. In the vz kitchen .7 or WM5 it went back to the today screen.
Is this normal for WM6 now? |

Same thing here. *sigh* But if you run the app without the Arguments from the shortcut it at least runs the app. Also if you load it with just the Config.txt as an argument it works fine. but errors as soon as you try to open the Selection.txt The Error Occurs once you add in the KitchenDir=Apache_Helmi_WM6\Apache_Helmi_WM6.rar: Line to the Selections.txt Hope that helps. I'm really excited about this project. |

After making a rom from the kitchen and flashing it to my device, I reboot the phone and it shows the boot screen as normal, but then it goes to a blank white screen instead of the initial setup screen to do screen alignment. Any ideas?

Try building that config again, except this time uncheck office (which is by far the largest OEM in the whole kitchen). Flash it and see if you get the white screen--if so then ROM size isn't the issue. If it does boot properly (and you want office installed) then you'll need to try unchecking other OEMs until you get to the point where your device will boot. But do report your bootloader version please. |

My bootloader version is 2.02. I changed some things around and it boots up fine. Thanks.

Need an update version that has the Verizon 3.3 ROM files and not the old 2.x.x files.
Also the Sprint TV needs to be updated to the new file. |
The version of Sprint TV is the newest one, it's working fine for me.
|
I think you all answered my question, but I'm having a hard time building a ROM with much in it. Does Office really take up THAT much space? I can't put MMS and Voice Command in together or it dies @ 99%. That's with Office selected.

Whats the file that needs to be edited to allow custom cities for HTC Home Weather?

Possible problems I have noticed with WM6K01:
I was totally impressed with AKU3.5K04, and this Kitchen looks even better! The build process is totally integrated now ... The BuildOS is so much nicer (and, it allows you to "Save"!) Two big fixes for me in this Kitchen (compared to my last WM6 attempt):
|
Two issues I noticed:
1. If you select O2 plus you can't uncheck it. 2. When I try to open OtO, HB Setup, and HTCustom I get a message that "It's not signed with a trusted certificate or one of it's components can't be found..." |
Small problem....
I get to the encode step, select sprint.prj and hit encode. nk.nbf, nk.nba, etc are created in the temp directory and step appears to complete successfully. I click exit, then in my build status window I see "nk.nbf not found" right after the "encoding" message. The files still exist in my temp dir though. When I choose "tools>Upload ROM to Device" I get the error message "nk.nbf not built yet". Any ideas? I know I can load this in other ways (since the file exists in the temp directory) but I would like to know what I may be doing wrong with the kitchen or if this is some kind of bug. |
I'm still having problems. Not sure if it's an incompatibility between OEMs but I dont' have time to check each one right now. I just need a working phone.
Fantastic work guys. All of you. I've already dontated, but will send again when I get a bit of extra cash. |
Reinstalled kitchen, that problem solved.....

2. According to naigaman (who spent some time on this issue), the available "kb to download" options for exchange and normal accounts is different. For exchange options are 0.5, 1, 5, entire message and headers only, and for reg email, it is 2, 5, 20, 50, headers only and entire message. Did you try to set these values in the messaging app itself or did you preconfigure them using OEMizer or some other method? In any case I just tried setting values through the Messaging app and they appear to be working as selected. 3. I set my reminder notification to vibrate, set a new appointment 16 minutes int the future and set a 15 minute reminder on it. A minute later my phone vibrated as expected. If you continue to have these issues please post a copy of your selections.txt and indicate what, if any, OEMs, reg, etc. you have added. |
