a little help?

So im new to the whole idea of editing my own Q home screen and i want to remove the lines i see between my icons, profile, email ect. sections and i've also noticed that you can remove to top position of the color scheme so you can see more of the background image. i was wondering how i could go about doing this? thanks guys
