Has anyone put an Epic 4G next to the Nexus to compare the signal strength? I wonder if it is just a Samsung thing.

I will compare epic and nexus signal strength tomorrow. But I think it just a nexus thing honestly. There are plenty of pros with the nexus and I'm a happy owner.

I'm going to be up for an upgrade on Sprint soon and was comparing phones to replace my 2 year old Touch Pro 2. Out of the phones out now this is the one I was most excited about. I sampled one in the store last week and it seemed great.

However, now that I've had a chance to read about end user experiences and the chronic poor signal issue I'm content to wait. This phone certainly won't be a serious option until the signal strength issue is fixed (most likely via a radio update.) Of course, the real downer is the nearly year old technology that comprises this phone (1GHz single core, SAMOLED display, no gorilla glass.) The more I wait and the more time that goes by without the software issues being fixed the more content I am to wait for the Galaxy 2. I just can't see being stuck with a single core and 512MB RAM for two years. Who knows whether the Android updates a year from now will still run on that hardware? If Sprint held onto the once per year upgrade path then I'd be tempted. At 2 years, this phone is already too old.

1. I have never drop a call, no matter what.
2. I dont suffer from any slow data speed (mobile hotspot or web).
3. The Nexus S will receive the next major android update and a few minors after that. Just like the big brother Nexus One.

A. My issue is visual of reception bar.

I have never dropped a call either. I wonder if it is just a graphic issue? Probably not. Moving from a hero to this phone has been wonderful.

I just got my NS4G last week, and I got my wife an Epic. I can tell you that there is no question the Epic blows the NS4G out of the water on connectivity. I've run Speedtests on 3G and Wi-Fi (no 4G in my area) and the Epic is twice as fast. I'm about 23 days away from the end of my 30-day window, and I'm keeping a hopeful eye out for news of an OTA update...otherwise, I might be switching to an Evo 3D or something else.

I am thinking of doing the same thing. I like the phone but the lack of signal reception is bothering me. I haven't dropped a call yet though. As far as the speed it blows away my old phone! I don't need to go to 11!!! lol

I moved to a area of the city that has great reception and now I see a major difference. Im extremely happy with the ns4g hands down good investment.

Re: Nexus S Weak Radios/Battery Problems

Well, I did it. I traded in my Nexus S 4G for the Evo 3D on Launch day. It was the end of my 30 days and I could not let it go. The antenna problem was huge for me and I have always had great reception with my previous HTC Touch Pro. I hoped the Evo 3D would deliver on the signal reception and it did - and then some! I am seriously happy with the Evo 3D. The only drawback is the netflix not being available on it yet. Apparently there is a problem needing to be resolved before they release it again but it will come - as opposed the Nexus S 4G which in my opinion has a design flaw that no amount of software programming will fix. If anyone is debating the switch - do it! You won't be let down. I did not want it for the 3D but it is a serious BONUS!

Re: Nexus S Weak Radios/Battery Problems

Just wanted to bump this to see if anyone had any updates.

I got a Sprint, Nexus S and my reception is pretty horrible. I'm listed as being in a "good area" but roam quite a bit. In fact, compared to my HTC hero, data reception is horrible.

Just curious if anyone has any ideas or suggestions? Responses on the Sprint forums have said to take it in to the store, but I bought my device from ebay so I'm unsure if they'll be willing to help.
