Wirelessly posted (WP7 Beta Tester: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows Phone OS 7.0; Trident/3.1; IEMobile/7.0; HTC; HD7))
It's not cab or any of what winmo used, it starts with .x ( I'll get it )... No ota downloads not from Zune or the marketplace yet. Last edited by Dr.8820; 03-08-2011 at 12:44 PM. |

Re: WP7 Software Question
Got it, it's .xap. I just downloaded a program and renamed it .rar and all the files are in there. I guess it's similar to cab, where there's an .xml file that tells the phone where to put the program files.
Hopefully someone will come out with an editor that works like WinCE CAB Manager |

Re: WP7 Software Question
There are xap packagers but yeah like you said what we really need is a nice GUI one like winCE cab manager. Won't be long before we get something like that for side-loading apps, but first we need another unlock solution for WP7 devices after the NoDo update obviates chevron :S

Re: WP7 Software Question
if you sideload apps, as soon as you sync with zune (if it is online) MS does something where you when you tap the app on your phone after that it says "not an approved app, uninstall" or something and won't let you use it.
this happened to me on TouchXplorer when I was doing some things. But I don't think they can remote wipe if you don't sync thru Zune. not 100% on that though. |
