Verizon Wireless Windows Phone 7 status (official release May 26th)

Well, this is interesting, after Sprint annoucing the HTC Pro7, now the word is Verizon will show the HTC Trophy (they entry level WP7 phone) on Monday the 28th for a March release.

I do hope they annouce more than one model because I really am not interested in the Trophy as it's the lowest end WP7 phone. I still have a claim open with Asurion with my cracked display on my TP2 (they have no more TP2s), maybe the'll give me one of these...heh

im in the very same boat as u i didnt open a claim tho because i didnt want to waste any money on this tp2 when im ready to upgrade i dont want that phone either but i might have to get it im sick of this tp2 battery doesnt last and my screen is cracked

They have offered me a bunch of differnt phones but, nothing equals the TP2...really, you never know how great a phone is till you have to find a replacement for it....Seriously I am not kidding.

I figured for the $50 (I'm still grandfathered in, as I have not signed a contract in 5 years now), I'll get a replacement phone now and just plan to sell it when I get a WP7 phone I want. They just don't have anything I want or compares to the TP2 (they offered me a TP1, I loled !). Still using it with a cracked display :(

This could be good news for VZW getting a WP7 model tho. We should know more on Monday...I hope.

I really thought Verizon shot themselves in the foot earlier this week when they came out & said they don't need Windows Phone 7!

i think the trophy is a nice looking phone but i still think vzw is killing themselves with that comment about not needed wp7 i think it's was childish because their still holding grudges from the kin 1 and kin 2 fallout . but it's good to see them eat their words if thas the case with the trophy .. when it makes its apperance on big red ..

Remember they also said that they didn't need the iPhone either, & now look lol

yeah i know lol vzw is funny that way . i just can't get over how they say 1 thing and as soon as they find out it's selling better on other networks then they say oops we made a mistake and now we want to sell it too lmfao it's hilarious when u think about it ..

The Kin mess...Does anyone here think every other phone the Verizon carried and promoted in some way was a full sucess ? No.

The Kin was designed as a lower cost public networking phone (facebook, twitter, etc) for a younger croud, Verizon killed it with charging a $30 mo data plan. It was not MS's fault or Verizons, it was both of them, it never sold because it was a min of $69.99 (450min $39.99+$30.00 data) a month to run it. The press made more of a big deal of this than MS or Verizon in the press.

Verizon, like Spint or AT&T is a business, if you have a bad day or product, you move on. By not taking WP7 in their line up, they could be leaving money on the table and as a company, it's not something you want to do, it would be just dumb.

Like I said, it's all about the money, Verizon pushed Android because they could not get the iPhone (and at that time it sucked with them)and sold what they could to compete.

We'll see how the tables turn when Verizon gets a few models of WP7 and can push them along with Android and the iPhoney, we'll see the winner then.

not saying that sprint is better then vzw . i was just saying it's funny how they said they don't need this and that but then to say hmm this this and this is selling on their network and hell now we want it as well ..

The Kin never sold because its supposed targeted audience (tweens lol) are all carrying around Blackberrys & iPhones these days that can do way much more than then Kin could offer lol (hell my 15 y/o future sis in law is rocking a Blackberry Torch right now, even though I tried to get her to get the new Atrix), but Verizon would be stupid to put all its eggs in one basket with the iPhone and not get on board with WP7, matter fact, I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt on this one, I bet that Steve Jobs paid Verizon to make that "we don't need WP7" comment lol.

I think I am going to try to get one with a 1 year contract (not sure if I am willing to sign a 2 year for it), depending on cost and depending on when they show up. That could change depending if a few models are scheduled to be released in the same time frame.

With a 3.8" SLCD display, it should be almost as nice as a AMOLED display (as claimed on a few sites) and it will give a wow factor with that. Also with FM radio, 720p video recording, 16gb MicroSD (easy to upgrade to 32gb, look on XDA) it does not seem like a bad phone at all. Maybe a little lower on the specs of all devices, but, still not a bad phone...

I'm trying to talk myself into it...because it's the only one Verizon will get from everthing I have read so far (unless something that NO ONE knows about pops out and the odd of that are really slim) and it's not a bad phone after all.

Yeah I hear ya, man... I'm REALLY wanting WP7. I just wish we had a device with some better specs available. After seeing the Thunderbolt specs, I'm seriously tempted to get one and then wait for a solid WP7 device...

At least you Verizon guys are getting a slate style WP7 device, I am on Sprint and so far they are only advertising the HTC 7 Pro/Arrive with a slightly smaller screen. :(


Well CTIA is later this month, hopefully a few other phones will be announced by Sprint then.

So, things are being released

-Assorted statements posted on sites
-Public pictures showing this phone (if it was a private beta test, the "tester" would not be testing any more and be banned for life), trust me, these pictures were released by Verizon, anyone saying not, back it up with proof.
-Final Rom released on XDA on 2/19 (see a few posts above)
-Support Docs on Verizonwireless.com

Something tells me that we'll see it sooner but, I hate these games.....getting really pissed off about this subject.

I'm on the verge of changing carriers myself.. or just swithing to iPhone.. But if you think we're pizzd ... Imagine the MS employees that signed up in Nov for that employee deal LOL !

i dont see them waiting until june its almost how verizon did with the touch pro 2 they waited a couple days after sprint released theres and then released it. im contemplating leaving verizon for sprint myself if they dont speed up this process with wp7. my touch pro 2 is cracked and not holding much of a charge

While we have known for some months Verizon is planning to release a Windows Phone 7 handset, the giant US carrier has so far not made any official announcement. Leaks have been turning up however at increasing frequency, and the latest, noticed by Winrumors.com, is a variety of support documentation for Windows phone 7 showing up on the Verizon’s website, at the is stage mainly linking to Microsoft’s docs.
If the rumours we have been reading are true, we can expect the Verizon HTC 7 Trophy to show up in the next few weeks.

@deadwrong... actually I'm the one that sent the tip to winrumors... I've been watching the VZW support site for such things for a while.. I dont know if there is a correlation between the support docs and the actual release.. VZW is notorious for testing devices for LONG periods of time with its large customers.. before actually having a public release.. So.. IMO june could be the real date.

FWIW the docs showed up on Tuesday.. I have more confidence in WPCentral's source.. since winrumors source said they would announce the device on Monday 28th and well.. nothing.. ;)

I really do want to believe Winrumors.com. In their latest posting (yesterday, as posted above)

They still stand by an around March 20th (same time as the Sprint Arrive/Pro7) time frame.



There is a lot of info about WP7 coming to Verizon out there, as we know, the posts, images, final rom and support docs but, if you talk to any Verizon person, most of them seem like they have never heard of Windows Phone 7 or the HTC Trophy. See my post from yesterday here when I called a bunch of stores to see what I can find out.

Now as the dates go, If we go by Winroumors, it will be here in a few weeks, if we go by everyone else, it will be later, closer to June.

Second to last paragraph.. Paul states he can now reveal that VZW will announce its first WP7 device this month... Not sure if VZW would announce in March and release in June... seems like maybe release is closer to march than June to me.. dunno

For people who didn't want to read the whole thing... Just the part waycoolkennel was talking about. I just have not had a chance to check the 15+ sites I check every day yet....

So, it could come this moth or at least be annouced. I guess we still stand where we are, Sometime soon and nothing else.

If your on Verizon, register and complain, it might not do much but, I am sure someone at Verizon reads it...

People, keep calling and posting about it to Verizon, Reps at Verizon have to make a note on phone requests (just like how they know the demand was so high for the iPhoney).

Dial *611 on your cell and talk to a customer service rep and ask for a release date on the "HTC Trophy with Windows Phone 7" maybe it will help a little.

Check it out possible release date for HTC trophyon Verizon per android central leak document shows march 24. Also lines up nice with winrumor. Post of late march and only a few days after sprints HTC arrive well here is hoping its true. What do you guys think

This style of phone has been pretty much what I have been purchasing for a while now. I know I am going to buy it, but honestly was hoping for a 4" type screen and thinner this time around. I may just have to suck it up though.
