Again to be clear, I really like WP7 but the hardware Verizon is offering is just too low end. I don't buy new phones every 6 months so I want really high end so it will last me a couple of years at least.

pfft here we go again. u should've ended that post with this signature

A victim of marketing for wanting a phone with the things that pretty much all smartphones are coming with as a standard now? I dont get how wanting LTE, a bigger screen and an up to date processor fits into the marketing ploy category. I feel the same way and I dont even have WP7.. but I wouldnt go from the Evo to a Samsung Transform.. really wouldnt make any sense.

Hey you want what you want. I think looking for or expecting WP7 to get LTE phones out before Mango is unrealistic however. They JUST got CDMA support in the NoDo update so I wouldn't expect LTE until AT LEAST the Mango update or sometime thereafter. And like others mentioned, battery life with LTE is still crappy, I expect that will improve over time as they tweak things.

haven't seen u in awhile. where u been eh? so if it was "standard" as u say then the gaystation phone would be 4G too, from what I've seen and read it is not but u would never admit that or bash it. it also makes sense that someone would still buy a 3G phone because

1) maybe they don't live in a 4G coverage area or..

2) maybe they don't give a damn about the perceived speed difference ,don't need it and would rather save battery, I know I feel this way.

I certainly will do that in the future. As for not wanting 4G, this may shock you, but you can turn it off. But if you enjoy antiquated hardware that might be news to you.

Now hang on, phones don't quite work like your PC does, recall that we bought smartphones that ran at 528MHz for a couple years (Touch Pro, Touch Pro 2, Imagio), prior to that, 400/416MHz (Mogul, Apache).

Consider now that in order to make the experience of a smartphone OS and its associated applications somewhat similar on a variety of devices, the internals have to be same/similar, and proven. So today you have a bunch of devices that run some Qualcomm processor clocked at 1GHz, perhaps more efficiently than the one last year. You buy the "high end" today and you get LTE (which is indeed a battery destroyer, I have a Thunderbolt here that eats itself alive over the course of 7 hours)..

Or you get dual-core 1GHz, which I haven't had the opportunity to try yet. It brings up the same sorts of questions for me as when desktop PCs started doing SMP, does the software properly run multithreaded, does it take advantage of that additional processor?

So bottom line as an application developer, you have to go for the mainstream, the 1GHz/512MB device with a 3.5-3.8" screen and 3G data/possibly 802.11n.

im sorry but just because the current selection of wp7s do not have the latest and greatest it does not make it crappy, the hardware is not even that old at all whatsoever. at least wp7 isn't a fragmented piece of stolen code like Android is. which also doesn't even take advantage of the "state of the art" hardware it runs on.

Re: Verizon Wireless Windows Phone 7 status updates !

Wow... I thought this thread was for people waiting for WP7. If you aren't waiting and enthusiastic about the device why post in this thread? WP7 will not upgrade its internals/hardware and the people waiting for the phones are aware of that. Its been said multiple times... give it a rest. The phone is optimized with what it has in it; if its snappy who cares whats inside?

And what is the big deal with 4g? I understand the speed increase is drastic but its not abundant everywhere yet so who cares? When 4g is everywhere and a phone is released without the ability to utilize it, then people can rant about it. As of right now its not a deal breaker. Did anybody switch to fios internet because its faster than cable? Cable speeds are good enough on computers and 3g is good enough on phones. Period. What do you NEED to download that quickly? Games? Apps? Porn? They will all be there by the time the browser links you to the titties you desperately need to see :disgust:

Re: Verizon Wireless Windows Phone 7 status updates !

All I really care about is getting a WP7 phone on Verizon right now so I can get my hands on one, then I'll worry about getting the fancy stuff later. Besides, anything is going to be bigger than my 3.2" Fathom screen and I think WP7 is going to be plenty fast on a 1ghz. My old dog 6.5.3 runs like a top with it so I can imagine WP7 would too.

How have people been with a transition to a virtual keyboard from a hardware keyboard? Is it pretty annoying at first? I'm trying to use my virtual more and more, but I can type so much faster on my slide-out.
