Re: Can WP7 Support A Front Facing Camera?

From what I can see while looking at my 7pro, the front facing camera is defintely there. If you put the phone under a bright light and look just above and to the right of the HTC symbol, you can see the light sensor and the camera. It's just about exactly the same on the EVO. So the hardware is there like others have said, it just needs to be enabled. Atleast that's what it looks like to me... What do you guys think?

7 pro or the Arrive ? They are different phones... 7 Pro, maybe, Arrive, I would say no. The 7 Pro is GSM. The Arrive is CDMA. The overseas GSM phones are the unbastardized versons of the US phones (un-stripped via carriers), not like the CDMA phones in the US who like to rip features off.

They could also be using the same "glass" as other models that support it, you might see it lighter in that spot looking like it might be something but, the board might not be there to enable it.

It would be interesting to know...

Mine is a Sprint Arrive by the way, I swear I can see the camera where I indicated. Atleast I hope that's what I"m seeing...

I did remember seening someone who disassembled the Arrive but, I just cant find the Video.

I'm 95% sure that it does not have the front camera. Even if it did, it would be hardware disabled (in the system bios) and it's been proven almost impossable to enable that unless you know the phone's programming(look at the FM radio on the TP/TP2) and HTC is not very easy to give that up.

If it does, Great, if you Sprint guys can figure out how to enable it, aswsome but, I would not get your hopes up.
