I don't think its doomed. Its been out for only couple months and they already have 5,000 apps. Plus their os is very smooth and alot of their apps are very good, like the netflix app. I'm looking forward to their os. I love android but w7 looks promising.

Re: Windows Phone 7... Doomed?

It's been gosh a month almost 2 since I've been using windows phone 7 - going from the hd7 to the dell venue pro. There are somethings I regret, like no mkv player or ogg or flac player, but otherwise I love the experience. I got android flashed on my hd2 and it is still slow...
I can't go back to android I can't go back to windows mobile or apple. I'm good

You can't call a port of Android the same as the actual thing..I know HD2 went a long way..but if you say try a Galaxy S phone..its a world of difference..I have 0 lag while opening multiple programs and 3d games running in background..

you're right
however
the epic 4g sucked balls out of the box and easily was one of the worst android experiences I ever had. Even with a custom build of android on that, it didn't beat the hd2 even with lagfree! And while I won't quip regarding hd2 v android, the point was even in august before wp7 hit, I was surprised at just how cheap android felt on the device that was par excellence
that being the epic 4g

I hope it improves but my month for using it was paltry at best...be that as it may even in comparison to the two devices, while the HD2 gave a better android experience as well as options (sense mostly), I am still hesitant to even return to android.

Yeah your results vary and I can say maybe it was a bum device I'll give it that and definitely will give it a shot again, but its hard for me just because wp7 has a really smooth experience and everything is fast.

I highly recommend if you can test wp7 for 14 days, TEST IT. It's hard to go back from it

Re: Windows Phone 7... Doomed?

i don't want the masses to think i'm downing the epic, i'm just amused by everyone in love with it...and i'm waiting for ex to show up again . wp7 has some flaws, it's definitely not perfect, but i think it's off to a good start. the tmobile person said i've got 20 days, i intend on testing it and hopefully this rumored update coming will address some of the flaws...like no gmail sync (at least it won't for me, saw something at xda that i might try).

what issues are you having with gmail? I just entered all my email addresses/ passwords and set to push and it works as intended.

What's wrong with you all? The galaxy s lineup is the fastest and most popular phone in history. Its hummingbird gpu is amazing. Android 2.1 and 2.2 run incredibly smoott and fast. Its super omaled screen is incredible! So stunning that ever person that I showed it to, amazingly give me a surprised and shocked look. They fall head over heels for it. And out the box, it works 100%. Noir, u said out the box it dont work. I suggest to pull your cranium out ur arse. I cant go back to regular lcd screens, they look very badly washed out. W7 is no exeption. Its a htc phone, so expect lcd fail-o-rama. Btw, no copy /paste. Might as well get a iphone4. At least with that you have a gpu that comes close to the epics humming bird.

obligatory post...
oh yes the device had issues and somehow it's my mental problem. Says the person that spells like a retarded 3 year old...

The lovely thing about wp7 is lcd is not the only screen (see samsung focus and dell venue pro). Just because some HTC devices have lcd and slcd, it also doesn't mean that s amoled goes without issues. With color gradients, s amoled performs POORLY with any graphics that have color gradients. typically battery with s amoled screens and wp7 is very poor (many have reported similar findings with android as well), so while the quality is crisp, there are SEVERAL sacrifices.

Third, while using a snapdragon processor, I have to say, graphically, wp7 has not given me any issues. AT ALL, and actually while giving me similar iphone graphics (heck it takes about 5 days to port an iphone program to wp7), I like that the zune experience, speed, and (I'll say it) eye candy makes me go back to it. The UX/UI is the thing that kept me going back.

Finally, I don't have an HTC wp7 device as my main driver =)
