It's going to be an uphill battle... With Verizon getting the iPhone and with Sprint getting Whatever the heck they are announcing on 2/7... But they will be just fine. The target audience for this OS is JUST now getting enough money in their pockets to be able to buy a smart phone.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing. No offense to you Dr. but two million devices being shipped to carriers isn't really something to brag about. Especially if one were to take into account the many countries, partners and different devices upon release. Also, the fact that we just finished the holiday shopping season makes me feel like the results can't be that rosey. If Sprint on the 7th and MWC that follows doesn't show some soon to be released competitive hardware and software. Then we need to make a wp7 funeral video lol. I know people won't like this post but I know some of you feel the same. I mean Microsoft just released at a bad time. Every single mobile OS is being tailored to tablets as well as being able to communicate to their smartphone counterparts in some amazing and creative ways. Microsoft has to release an update containing more than cdma support and c/p by the end of February. Also by the end of the first quarter they need "comparable" hardware. Especially with phones like the atrix and thunderbolt coming next month.

Your not reading the numbers right..its EVEN worse...those are the amount of licenses M$ sold up to now to manufacturers...aka we aren't even talking about carriers shelves or even how many devices were made..we are talking about licenses for software here..and usually they buy in advanced..aka it wouldn't be out of the question if the CDMA WP7 devices are ALREADY included in those numbers..yes..its THAT BAD...

They're right Doc... It's catastrophic... Hell... Microsoft might as well throw in the towel and close down shop.

Dude... Microsoft has enough money to make this work. And they will.

WP7 released in 30 countries with nine "different" devices and 60 carriers One of those carriers being the largest in US....ATT . Android released on one carrier(I believe) and that carrier happens to be the smallest of the big four....TMobile. Also Android was released on one device.

I'm not saying that it won't work. I'm saying that it's not working right now. If carriers won't advertise your product then they should market it themselves. Also it's not like Microsoft is the only company with billions being made quarterly. Apple (Ios), Google (Android), RIM (blackberry) and even HP (webOS) all have more than enough money to make their respective OS' "work" as you say. I just finished reading a couple articles. One mentioned how Tmobile employees are pushing Android devices to customers. The article I read was about ATT being the largest carrier in this country now. Guess what their depending on to keep them ahead of Verizon? Yup you guessed it, Android. WP just isn't visible right now. It had more hype before launch than it does now. I'm not trying to be all negative because I was in the same position wp7 fans are with webos. I'm hoping HP has something great in store for me and my love affair with webos. At least lately HP has been gaining hype about the future of webos. I want microsoft to do the same thing. They paid app developers for the important apps. Now they should hold maybe a youtube competition. Have a contest to see who could come up with the best slogan and commercial displaying the benefits of having wp7 device. Let the winner receive cash and a wp7 device of their choice or something.

It's cool smoove, we can talk about things and not argue :). I definitely don't want to sound like one of those guys who thinks mine is the best cuz I own it lol.

Re: Windows Phone 7... Doomed?

Ok... Doc... I'm taking that one personally.
LOL...

The fact that you own it DOES make it better. Because YOU have experienced it. Most of us speak from a place of ignorance. And some of the comments on this thread prove that.

But I agree... It may not be the best or even better. It is what it is and it will definitelly be better with time.

As everything else has and will be.
