Re: What phone started your love afair with PPCs?

My ppc history is as follows: Moto Q9e flashed to Q9h --> ATT Tilt flashed to be an HTC Kaiser. ATT Fuze flashed and altered to be a HTC Rapheal - front cam. Prior to the Q9e, the most advanced phone I ever had was the Mororola v197. Since moving to PPC platform, I keep a Nokia 2610 as a backup unit, but rely upon WinMo. (preferably touch screen w/ physical keyboard). I'd be willing to give Android a shot, but there is no way I'll ever adopt the iPhone. They're just too neutered for what I demand out of my handheld device.

Re: What phone started your love afair with PPCs?

My actual phone when I got started was a Motorola Razr. I just thought it was cool cause it had a microSD slot and I could listen to music on it. Then I got an iPod Touch the week they released. I was sold! I HAD TO HAVE AN IPHONE! I started researching the iPhone, using friends iPhones and learning everything I could about it while trying the things I learned on my much adored Touch. Then one day while I was still in my dreaded iPhone depraving contract one of my co-workers showed me thier Mogul. At first I dismissed it, nothing was as good as the iphone I thought, the commercials say so. After he showed me all the things that Mogul could do I was sold again lol. I HAD TO HAVE A MOGUL! Sure it had a smaller screen, but damn, that little device would do soooooo many things the iphone couldnt, and that started it all for me.

Re: What phone started your love afair with PPCs?

I always liked phones that I could customize my wallpaper and change the words "Sprint" that always read across the phone to something else. Before the Touch Pro I had the Katana II which is hardly worth mentioning and a little ashamed of even mentioning it, lol.

After I got the Touch Pro I thought to myself "There HAS to be SOMEONE out there messing with this phone!" When I came across this site I seriously had NO IDEA what was in store for me. it blew my little noob mind. I've been addicted to this site ever since.

Re: What phone started your love afair with PPCs?

My first phone ever was the Nokia 918p, (TDMA network). Then a Motorola 120t, then a Motorola v197, and then into the smartphone era. I remember on my Moto 120t, I was wondering who the hell would want the internet on this thing? It's so small, and B/W, so why bother? Cool feature, but pretty useless at that time.

Re: What phone started your love afair with PPCs?

My love-affair with PPC's began with the PPC-6700, like most of us here! I then grew from that to the Pantech PGN-1800 (first flip PPC) then went to the HTC Vogue, Diamond, Dual, Snap then finally settled with the TP2 (for now, lol) I tend to get a new phone every year! While the old phones are used for testing and back-ups incase anything should happen to my current device!

Re: What phone started your love afair with PPCs?

For windows mobile or "pocket pc" as it was called, I started off in college with an ipaq 3630 which cost something like $700 or something rediculous like that. I had that for a while with a separate sony cell phone on sprint pcs back in 1998. I went thru a few cell phones in college and in med school ended up with a razr. I also switched to a palm zire71 since all the free medical programs were palm at that time. After the Mogul came out, i moved back to windows mobile and got rid of the zire. Back in May, I was about to buy a touch pro, then saw all the info on the TP2 and decided to wait. I have had the TP2 for a week and am loving it! It is pretty amazing how far things have come from the ipaq 3630!

Re: What phone started your love afair with PPCs?

after hauling a Palm Pilot and a cell phone for many years, I broke down and bought a Samsung I500. I LOVED that phone. Then my work got me a Sprint Audiovox (HTC) PPC6600. That got upgraded to the PPC6700 on Sprint, then we switched to the equivalent XV6700 on Verizon, then my new job got me the Blackberry Curve 8330 (not my thing), now I've gone and bought a Touch Pro 2 (Sprint). Love this phone. But to answer the question, it was the PPC6600.

Re: What phone started your love afair with PPCs?

I had a razr originally, to a z6m, to a v9m, then a blackberry. I thought that was as good as it got, but I wanted rev.a, which at the time blackberries didn't have, so I looked at the touch pro, but couldn't afford it. I looked on ebay and found a mogul for $30, in bad shape, that did more than the blackberry could. at that point, I was sold.

Re: What phone started your love afair with PPCs?

It all started on the AT&T 8125 (HTC Wizard) for me. Once I had that phone I stumbled across xda and was hooked, i was addicted to flashing roms . Unfortunately, the Wizards were notorious for the mini-USB port breaking off the main board, and one day mine did as well.

I then "upgraded" to the Samsung Blackjack (i607) and fortunately Da_G was making 6.1 ROMs for that phone!

I went back to a dumb phone for a little while because I was switching from AT&T to Sprint, which was a great decision. The AT&T service in my area is spotty at best. Samsung Rant, it really gives you something to rant about. I returned that before the 30 day period, because someone on CL was selling their touch diamond with a SERO plan included.

The Diamond is the best phone I've had so far. I'm hoping to upgrade to the Touch Pro2, but I really want Sprint to get a Diamond2.

Re: What phone started your love afair with PPCs?

Was given a 6700 by my brother in law couple of years ago, tweaked it w/ reg edits, etc, still just learning, the upgraded to the Samsung Omnia, finally joined the board here and starting flashing it like crazy. Then upgraded to the TP2 on my Sprint account last month. Loving the TP2 now, can't wait to see what they come up with next... if it's the Leo early next year, I may end up annoying the wife and buying that one next!!
