HTC Pop Up - I just learned something

I've been beating my head trying to figure this out. I'm flashing a replacement Touch Pro. After flashing, when I plug it in, I only get the option for ActiveSync or Internet Sharing. NOT Disk Drive. I've been looking through files, and searching the Web trying to find the answer. Then it hit me.

I put the SD card in the new TP and voila! I have the Disk Drive option.

Just thought maybe this would help someone else out in the future.

I'm lost. Wouldn't you want it to be "ActiveSync" if you are flashing? Unless you are planning to flash from the SD card, but if that were the case you would have had the SD card in and not been connected to the computer...

Since you would normally want it to be ActiveSync why did you have to figure out a way for it to show "Disk Drive"?

I'm sorry. I realize I wasn't clear. I have a replacement phone which I'm flashing via usb. While trying the new ROM on the new phone, I realized that I wasn't getting the "use as disk" option when plugged in to USB. I discovered that I needed to actually have an SD card in that phone for the "use as disk" option to be available.

Ah. Thanks for the clarification.

Yea the Disk option requires an SD card as it pretty much isolates your SD card as if it were a USB thumbdrive. It isn't usable by the phone at that time either. Doing so without the SD card is impossible as you can't remove the internal storage while the phone is on.

Posted that explaination mainly for people who land here via a search.
