Look where Solar Tech is taking Us!!!
i just posted this in a response and thought maybe i should share to everyone.. the reason its here, is this will be for mobile devices, way sooner than anything else.. the army already usues it for powering radios
-------------------------------------------------------------------- im pretty sure this tech is not avaiable yet to the public and currently only the army has access, this tech powers their devices, radios, etc out in the field http://www.konarka.com/index.php/site/tech_solar/ its amazing... could u imagine using a special type INKJET printer to print out flexible, paper thin solar panels? well thats what this is.. u would just slap one on ur phone and away u go.. Konarkas theory is one day you can put one of these on the roof of your car and power every device u can run inside it.... and someday, actually run your cars batter and function from it.. check it out, its very intersting.. it also shows a timeline to show the progress theyve made

Re: Look where Solar Tech is taking Us!!!
They've been sitting on this since 2003, if the graph can be believed.
Must be some serious kinks in the ramp up to commercial viability. Still, anything will help. I'm waiting on solar roofing tiles to be only 2x as expensive as asphalt shingles so I can re-roof with solar. My roof gets about 40Kw dumped on it 300/365 days here in CA. It's a total waste.

Re: Look where Solar Tech is taking Us!!!
Hey guys, I don't know if you knew that there is a couple companies that are selling for $50 a portable device that fits in a backpack or you can get a folding pack that folds to the size of a nintendo ds. The backpack utilizes the glass covered dyed cells. The backpack is about $175 if I remember right. I found them in an environmental store. You can google solar backpack or solar cell charger. Both of these items come with a pack of adapters that will fit most types of phones, ppc's and mp3 players. Hope this helps.
