Re: Activesync doesn't recognize outlook 2007
I experienced that issue for nearly a year w/ my 700WX, however I was (and still am) using Vista and WMDC, not XP/AS. This is not an uncommon issue. What did it for me was upgrading my ROM. I was running the stock WM5 at the time, I flashed a custom WM5 ROM and that did it. I've since upgraded to WM6 and it still works like a charm. This might be something to consider, if you're still on WM5.

Re: Activesync doesn't recognize outlook 2007
I'm running the stock wm5 version 1.14. I'm not too worried about it since I plan on getting a touch pro next month. My biggest concern is that it's a problem with activesync not recognizing outlook on my pc. I can't imagine that it's the phone. I'm going to try syncing in safemode next and see if it's something else causing the problem. I appreciate the suggestion, who knows...I might get bored and try flashing a new rom anyway. I just don't feel like transferring all of my contacts manually. Speaking of which. Is there a way to back up my contacts to my card?

Re: Activesync doesn't recognize outlook 2007
Funny you should ask,,,,,yes there is. I've been using SPB Backup for about as long as I've had my 700WX (16 months). It creates a complete b/u of your device's system, including contacts, settings, apps, email, etc and stores it as an .exe on your card. If you need to restore, just navigate to your card, activate the .exe, and presto...you're back in business. You can customize when/how to b/u. Mine is set to b/u every Monday @ 7AM. I will also b/u if I make a significant change to my device. Look @ www.spbsoftwarehouse.com

Re: Activesync doesn't recognize outlook 2007
So far as I know, PimBackup only backs up your PIM data, not the rest of the device, including installed apps and settings (registry and otherwise). These are particularly important if you don't want reinstall and reconfigure your apps (and have to hunt down the reg codes). If you're going to install a b/u app, you might as well go with one that takes care of your entire device

Re: Activesync doesn't recognize outlook 2007
Great, I'm going to use the pimbackup for now to make sure I don't lose all of my contacts, but not a bad idea just to get the spb for the future. Right now I don't have too many apps, and I backup the cabs incase I need to install again.
My main concern though is trying to figure out what the problem is with outlook. Just a matter of time before someone who has actually figured it out see's this thread. |

Re: Activesync doesn't recognize outlook 2007
Quick update...was unable to open activesync in safemode, so did a clean boot and ran, nothing new. I uninstalled activesync 4.5 and got 4.2 running with the same results. Syncs fine, just doesn't recognize that I have outlook installed. Am I missing something? I have office 2007 which comes with outlook. That should work, right?
