Can anybody run BuildOS on 64 bit systems?

I posted a support thread on PPCKitchen and GGuruUSA has been trying to help me with it, however we've had no luck so far.

I was wondering if anybody here has gotten an error msg anywhere near this:

"The version of this file is not compatible with your version of Windows. Check to see whether or not you need a 32bit or 64bit version of this program and then contact the publisher."

When trying to run BuildOS on Vista 64bit.

Hopefully somebody else here has run into this problem and knows a fix for it.

Windows is fully updated, Microsoft Installer 4.5 is installed, and I have tried "run as administrator" as well.

So does anybody have any suggestions?

Try using a function in Vista that let's you run 32 bit programs... It's kinda like emulation but I am not sure what it is called...

Hmm, not sure what that is, but I'll look around.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Can anybody run BuildOS on 64 bit systems?

Yeah... No problem... I looked on the Microsoft site... This is what they say...

Quote:
Many programs designed for a computer running a 32-bit version of Windows will work on a computer running 64-bit versions of Windows without any changes. However, in some cases there might be differences in performance. If a 32-bit program uses embedded drivers, the drivers might not work in the 64-bit environment. If you have a 64-bit computer, it's best to run programs designed to run on a 64-bit computer.
If you want to look at more of it, go here..

In this case, I believe that BuildOS can not be run on a 64-bit system... The developers for the program need to build a 64-bit version then...

im running buildos on vista home premium 64 bit without any problems

however, i got a similar error when i downloaded buildos with a download manager but it worked just fine when i downloaded it straight with firefox.

try downloading without a download manager and see if that works.

THANK YOU!

I use internet download manager, never thought that would cause any problems but I guess it did. Just downloaded it normally through Google Chrome and its installing perfectly.
