Why not use the phone that has 6.1 on it already? As far as Alltel getting 6.1, I'd be surprised. I might could see them releasing a GPS rom that is WM6, but I don't see them releasing WM6.1. Least not anytime soon. Maybe on the next HTC phone they get....maybe...

Re: Where's all the Alltel'ians?

im not useing the 6.1 because there are a few prog.that i like from alltel that the hack .6.1 dosent have and i couldnt get evdo at the time so i went and got a new phone then i found out how to get the evdo back.i also found a way to use the old phone still by putting the hex # of the new phone in to the old phone you can use the internet with full evdo and use the new phone to make calls at the same time.

First of all, I can get you any program you want in cab format that Alltel has on their phones.

Second of all, explain how you did the hex # trick on the other phone in a little bit more detail.

Re: Where's all the Alltel'ians?

Frist dial ##778 go to edit put code 000000 if an alltel cust. then goto viewinfo goto security and on your HDR AN AUTH PASSWORD put in your HEX# of the phone that works and you will get full evdo it work i did it to my old phone and to an old 6700 i have .I think if you go to a store and get a phone #and the hex # off the store phone this will work to if you change the tellphone # also to the store phone # just put the store # in were it has HDR AN AUTH USER ID and were it has PPP USER ID also go back to viewinfo on display put the phone # in the MSID. If it dosen't work the frist time reenter the HEX# in at the HDR AN AUTH PASSWORD AN IT SHOULD WORK.

Good one Colonel... They shouldn't show their commercials wherever they don't offer their services...

Lenny, I'll do my best to do less lurking and more responding. BTW, thanks for your work on getting MMS working with 6.1.

Actually i believe its the other way around...

Naaah - I think there are actually MORE of us - we just don't have to speak up and ask questions as often; kinda like how the majority of folks are conservative, but it's the liberals who continually capture the news, lead in poll numbers, etc - but lose more often than not - but I digress...

Yes, Alltel's "official stance" on an "official" rom update is "we are working on it - no eta" - not even a guess. I say they're lucky to have it out by end of the year knowing them! So those of you who want to use the GPS on your 6800's, ya better poke around, read & learn how to use one of the modified versions of the latest official sprint ROM....its pretty easy - and pretty solid (at least the DCD version that I'm running is!)

i'll have to agree with about 99.9% of that. No2Chem has much better roms that dcd's... If you notice, No2Chem helped dcd get to the point he's at now...

Re: Where's all the Alltel'ians?

Alltel here, got a questoin, newbie to this pc phone stuff. I have the HTC Touch with the Touch Cube and one side of the cube is all ALLTEL's crap, ie... "buy stuff from us, your plan doesn't make us rich enough." Is there a way to change those functions to something else, like more quickcalls or website links? I would search but not sure what to look for. Thanks for your help
