okay, maybe i missed it in the 17 pages, but i swear i read all the posts.
I setup my account, i set my gmail to fwd. i send myself a test message to my gmail.com account, but i cannot figure out how I am notified on my phone that I have an email. does it pop up in my inbox? |
You need to get a mail2web account and set up push e-mail with that mail2web account on your device, just as instructed on the first post.
Then you set GMail to forward your messages to the mail2web account so that every time a message arrives to your GMail account, it will be forwared to your mail2web account and you will be notified through POutlook as soon as it is received on the mail2web account. |

That's why it's called Push e-mail. After you set up the server on Activesync on your device, new e-mails will get pushed to the device as they arrive.
If you send an e-mail to the mail2web account, does it arrive automatically to your device? |
The emails show up in my mail2web live account on live.mail2web.com but not on my phone

You sure you set it up correctly as explained on the first post? Not trying to imply anything, but that's exactly what I did and it works. It has to be something on your device's configuration because if the messages are showing on Outlook Web Access and not on your device, then they are not being pushed to the device. |
I just went back through and did it again and nothing. i sent a test to my email at mail2web.com and received it on their site, but not in my outlook on my phone
edit: okay that was weird, i did a test again, hit sync and all of them popped up. so i have to hit sync everytime? edit2: nevermind, it just started working at random..o well it works and does what I want so sweet! LOL thanks |
You need to set ActiveSync options to receive items as they arrive instead of manually.
That may be the culprit... |
anyone having trouble aggregating emails from their sprintpcs email account?

i tested it a second ago, it worked jsut fine, I didnt have to sync it. regardless, it works im happy..lol |
can anyone help me set up push email? i wanna set up my work email what do i need to set it up? thanks in advance.
|
It all depends if it even supports it. The best qualified person to do that is your IT department.
|
i emailed my IT and he said its not possible maybe coz they all use blackberrys ?
|
ok i got this mail2web working i got my work email forwarding to it but how do i reply to the messages sent to me? i tried replying but it doesnt go through. do i need to set up my outgoing mail to a different email account?
|
If you set up the Exchange server as it is instructed on the first post, you should be able to reply from within POutlook. However, the reply will come from your mail2web address and not your work address.
If you want "spoof" your work address, you need to upgrade to a pay plan and set up a proxy... I forget the name of it, it's an option within mail2web for the paid plan. What do you mean it doesn't go through? What error does it give you? |
sorry it went through it just took a while for the mail to get there..thank you
|
is it just me or this thing checks for mail every 15mins not as the mail arrive?

Hotmail
Does The Mail2web Work With Hotmail Or Yahoo
|
If you can forward them to another address, it should. I don't think you can though, not 100% sure.

Mail 2 web
Is there something wrong with me or activesync or mail2web? I am trying to sync up and get my push email but I keep getting a "synchronization could not be completed support code: 0x80070057. What is the problem? Anybody?

how much data usage
Hi, im new to the forum. I was just curious how much data usage this exchange server setup uses. Lets say I wasnt going to even recieve any mail whats the typical usage data for keeping the connection open.
|
There's really no way of knowing. It depends on what other things you keep synchronized (contacts, tasks) and how many of them. Then on top of that, how much e-mail traffic you get.
Why are you worried about this? |
Data usage
Well im with sasktel and for 4 megs of data its 25 dollars and 30 megs is 60 bucks. so i went with the 4 meg plan mainly cuase i think 30 megs for 60 is pricy. I am going to be starting a small based business and email on the go is always nice. Kinda thinking of just syncing emails probly get a few a day not alot but again i really dont want to go over the 4 meg.
one thing I wish I could do is find a cheaper data provider and just keep the voice with my local provider for service. |
Wow that's really expensive!
Well you don't really need to have exchange open all the time. Heck, you don't even have to have set to push. You can set up Activesync to check every X minutes and there also schedule settings, so you can have the phone not check at night for example. I would also set POutlook to download only headers, that way you minimize data transfer when downloading e-mail and you can choose what to download after the headers are on the device. |
Thanks for the fast replys. I will have to set it up to only check during day mabey once a hr or somthing like that that should be under 4 megs a month. I can always stop push if I get to close to going over.
|
Does anyone know why it takes a really long time when you send an email from your phone? I have everything set up correctly and when I try to send an email from my phone, it takes forever to get to its destination. For example, I sent a test email from my phone to my work email 15 minutes ago and I still haven't gotten it. Any ideas?

Just set up my account at Mail2web.
Started to walk thru the steps to set up the sync. The only options were for win mobile 5.0 and win mobile 2003. Any problems with the WM 5.0 on a Mogul with WM6? |
MrShoe,
For business users, the sync setup is slightly different for WM5 vs. WM6 - the syntax for your username changes, and the details are shown in the account setup. Free users might not have that difference though. If you run into a problem, you might try this change: In your exchange server settings (in AS on the device), change User Name from your email address (e.g. "itsme@mydomain.com") to your mail2web account id (e.g. "itsme_mydomain"). Please post back with experience. |

or at least thats whats on the mail2web settings edit** using the method i placed above works |
this is going to sound like a stupid question
but under my current condition :HINT COUGH HINT: i cant seem to figure out how to link my yahoo/aim/gmail accounts to my mail2web account. sorry if it sounds retarded but i didnt find it anywhere but you already know lol |
holo,
I don't know about the yahoo/aim/gmail accounts because I don't use them, but standard practice for my other 4-5 pop accounts is to 1)Go to the profile page for each account and forward all mail to the mail2web account; 2) If you can't forward the email, then you need to use mail2web's email aggregation feature - you set up mail2web to poll your aggregated accounts every few hours and round up your mail. (You have no control over how often the polling is done. Its not predicable, and its always hours, not minutes, delayed compared to direct-addressed or forwarded mail. Mail2Web discourages relying on it.) |

Is there a connection between the two that could cause an issue? edit: what the heck, it just worked.. confused. |
So-after reading the 20 pages. still not sure about this q...
You can't activesync once you have this set up? if not, can you even connect your phone to your computer to send programs, or use PDANet? Also, does the ping interfere with incoming calls? Thanks :) |
Yes, you can still activesync after this. This creates an Exchange connection, you still can ActiveSync to two PCs. If you are on 1x then you could miss a call here and there if they happen to call during the ping, but on EV-DO the call would interrupt the ping.
