I've heard that 3G is a little bit faster but coverage of 3G is less than EVDO offerred by Verizon or Sprint. You can check coverage map on att website. If EVDO Rev.A is available, I think speed would be faster. This is just my opinion, thus.

Correct me if I am wrong, at this time, many of at&t devices, like the iPhone, are still running on EDGE. It is way inferior than EVDO Rev0.
Now at&t and the GSM camp are moving over to HSDPA to get faster speed (but not for everybody). But as you know, the CDMA camp has EVDO RevA already for their aircards. It won't be long they will roll that out to their PDA phones and smart phones as well. Furthermore, the CDMA camp is working on EVDO RevC already. So it appears to me that the GSM camp is playing catch up. With that being said, I strongly suggest you to look into what works the best in YOUR AREA because that is what matters the most.

mt gf and I argue about this all the time. She works for att and we have tested the connections in our area a few times. So far my sprint centro had loaded pages faster than her att 680 everywhere we've tried it. Wasnt 3g sprints first internet connection back in the vision days???
