Oooo got the sprint iPhone, bad deal. Should've gotten the Verizon one as sprint speeds are atrocious in some areas. As for your questions there us a cydia app store for al the homebrew stuff, can't bypass it without a credit card but you can get around it with a gift card or something. After being jailbroken it is possible to tether.
