gmail and auto adding of email addresses

I've done some searches and thought I took care me this but gmail is still auto adding people that I don't want into my contacts online and since I have my hero sync'd with gmail they get added to the phone. Anyone know how to fix this?

Go to your built in People app, click on the Groups tab on the bottom, click Menu hard key, Sync Groups, and choose to just have your "My Contacts" synced.

So you have that option? I only have "All contacts". It was selected and I unselected. As a work around I created a group called "Hero mobile" and added everyone on my phone to it. It then sync'd with Gmail and that group is now available online.

I'm still mad that gmail won't shut off the auto adding of email addresses.
