when is the epic froyo source supposed to be released?

does the epic even have an official 2.2 out yet?

It was closed cause people were asking for progress and the team clearly said we are waiting on Froyo source...

We have 2.2.1 which is an official RC..aka it was ninjad off official Google servers...but we have no source yet or the final..T-Mobile released their 2.2 already and Samsung had their SGS updated ages ago, all of Canada updated to Froyo in December(Yeah Canada actually beat us..thats sad...)..Sprint is just slacking cause its not under their "EVO" brand name so they don't care much unfortunately :(

EPIC failure once again :(

Wirelessly posted (HTC Touch Pro2 (Sprint): Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.1-update1; en-us; SPH-D700 Build/ECLAIR) AppleWebKit/530.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/530.17)

I had a tough time deciding between the EVO and Epic, especially since the EVO has the larger screen and better front camera AND is already running Froyo.

I ended up choosing the Epic for the following reasons:
-AMOLED screen
-Physical QWERTY
-Size factor: Fits in the same belt case I used for my TP2.
-If I want Froyo that bad before Sprint gets off their butts and gives it to us, it's not that difficult to do. I already had WM6.5 running on my TP2 well before Sprint released it and ended up sticking with Custom ROMs for it because the stock ROM sucked!
-Design: I like the smoother, more rounded edges of the Epic compared to the "boxier" look of the EVO. Also, even though many don't lik this, I kinda like how the capacitive front "hard keys" (Menu, Home, Back Search) backlighting turns off and the front stays completely black after timeout.

All in all though, it comes down to personal choice. Between the two, I find neither phone has a true technical advantage for the average everyday Android user.

The Evo has a 1.3mp front facing camera, but overall it gives no benefit unless you are talking to a person on a PC...just uses more bandwidth..as the resolution from phone -> phone right now is only wvga..

Also, the timeout can be disabled for those that want..but if you like it I guess thats fine too..

And for average user, probably the only technical things they may notice is in Gaming and Video...

I have a friend who is an average user and got an Epic, and they claimed that the iphones they saw were snappier..so I told them to take off the transitional animations effects..and they were like "wow my phone is so much snappier"..but in reality its not that the animations make it slower or faster..its just a visual thing...but I guess they don't understand it :/
