Issue with contacts

I have an HTC Evo & I love the device for all that it does. One issue I am having though is I'll have multiple entries for the same contact. Yes, I know about menu > view > google or phone only.

For example, I have one person on there 5 times & when I linked all of the Google links for his entries he became 1 entry but now in his one number has 5 entries under his name (call mobile, call other, call voice, & send message twice) all using the same number.

Anyone know a fix for this?
