Possible Group Text Bug

So I need to be able to send group prayer requests from my HTC EVO for my church.

I go in to messages\new message\ click on the person next to the "to" field and then click on groups and select the group I have set up.

This is what happens, if any of the contacts in that group have an email address it will automatically send the text message to their email address instead of their phone.

In order for me to send a group text message to all the phones in the group I have to go to People\groups\ select the group I want to send a text message to, click on the 3 arrow sharing button on the bottom, click "send group message" and then it will send to all the phones as a text message.

Is this a bug? Has anyone come across this and is there a way to just click forward on a message or just generate a message from within the text messaging app and get it to actually text all the phones in the group instead of sending the text to some of the peoples email address'?
