Oh, nice. That sounds pretty good then. Yeah, I'm usually pretty broke as well, and $3-$5 apps don't usually scare me off, depending on their function.

Yeah, i would say as long as the app you are developing doesn't have an equally functional free version, charge for it. I would also recommend you have an ad supported/trial/limited functionality free version that gets the job done but is expanded upon in the pay version. The tactics seem to work well in the market.

Also,

as far as Apps are concerned. Winmo isn't known for having good apps. I have owned and extensively modified, tweaked, played with, cooked for, and developed on one level or another for Winmo, iPhone, and Android. Winmo apps are worse in UI, graphics, speed, reliability, and less abundant than android or iPhone apps. So to use Winmo as some kind of paragon for how developing apps should be is preposterous. winmo is the most inefficient mobile OS there has ever been! and I like a lot of things about winmo, the ability to customize being the top dog. But the apps are the absolutely worst part of the OS, and one of the reasons is because there is literally NO money to be made because it is so damn easy to pirate the apps AND there is little ad support. And it's probably not even the altruism of winmo developers, it's probably that companies know it's useless to advertise on winmo apps because of the low amount of people using winmo apps!

Also,

This is more about android than anything about the Evo, so I'm moving it to Android General. :)

Correct, on a rooted device adblock blocks the URL's of known advertisers and the list is constantly being updated. It works pretty good.

I do wish people would get over all the conspiracy theory stuff. Privacy has been a thing of the past for a long time. At least with a corporation like Google, if they do retrieve your info, it will only be so they know what they should try to sell you, it's still your choice to buy what they offer. It's not like Google is trying to steal my info so they can replace me with a drone lol. WM is moving to the same setup, and apple is even more controlling than google or MS. Pretty soon you're going to have to switch to a couple of cans with string between them if you're really worried about privacy.

Here's how it is. Free isn't free isn't free. It's not all the same. It's all about how hard you search. :P

Question, as a soon to be Android user, if you use Adblock, does the ad display but is blank, or not display at all?

It kind of depends on the app. The ads dont display in the apps at all with adblocker, but some of the apps have a space where the ad was designed to be. The ads in question are quite small and never cover any of the apps functions or content, usually its a 1/4 inch banner ad placed either at the top or bottom of the screen. Where not talking about full blown pop up ads or anything.

Well for one most of winmo apps are garbage and outdated as hell anyways with shitty interfaces. Deal with an add on an app that gets updated regularly or no ad on an app that hasnt been updated since 2004? Ill take option A.
