Iphone free aps have mad ads. It dont affect anything. It not like things will just randomly pop up on your screen outside of the free app that you downloaded

You haven't used any apps before, haven't you? All free, and some paid apps usually have some sort of ads in them. On iPod's App Store, there are bunch of premium, ad supported apps that cost nothing to you, but you get an ad once in a while. Developers need to make money somehow too.

There always will be ads on anything popular. Mobile platforms, TV, billboards. They even installed ads in a subway tunnel in NY, as train moves, ad moves with you. So remove your tinfoil hat and accept it.

As said before, iPhone does the same thing. When you get an app for no monetary cost you're going to be paying for it via giving information, most likely. Even paid for apps most likely still track things you do on your phone... really it's no different than using the internet, you don't think there are such things as tracking cookies? Run some anti-spyware and it'll point out tracking cookies.

Even paid apps, as I said, access things such as network and gps location. Adware is nothing new to the technology industry. If you'd rather not be tracked or have ads thrown your way, I suggest to totally unplug from any internet based device.

Bored, thank you for pointing this out for users that are new to Android. I think though that no matter which smartphone you use, you will still be in the same situation (iPhone, WinMo, Android, Blackberry, etc...)

SPAM is unsolicited ads/emails
Since we are agreeing to the terms of use by installing the free/paid software, we are in essence agreeing to receive the adds we see. So since we agree to receive ads in order to receive free apps, this means the ads aren't SPAM.

were not talking about iCrap products now are we.. ads are something you dont see in winmo apps

tell me some winmo apps that have ads, cuz i use about 70 different cabs, apps, games, and utilities on mine and never do i have an ad thats attached to the bottom bar of my screen the whole time im in that app..

someguysmms had a nag screen, which was just a 10 second wait between screens or however it was..

i used elecont back in the day on a trial and when it ended it remined you eery 3 uses to upgrade..

SKTools.. trial gives you only a few options.. doesnt give you ads..

WMWifiRouter.. 30 day trial.. no ads during that trial..

SPB MObile Shell.. has a trial.. dont think i saw ads when i tried it..

should i keep going?? winmo is not know for ads so i dont know why anyone would say they are.. trials and limitations on what a free version will do, sure, absolutely understandable and justify-able...

but puting an ad in a free app just for the sake of saying "hey, it was free, so you cant complain", well that just doesnt seem like anyone has my best interest in mind...

and i do agree with elephants *edit* - i know that by downloading it your saying its ok... i get that..

im saying why though.. its not some apps.. its every free app... how many free things you have on your winmo devices guys??? how many of them have ads?? please tell me..

im just saying until i toyed around with android on my TP2, i had no clue.. because its NOT like this on winmo at all... winmo apps limit usually.. android/google adware you.. thats a big difference

90% of the WM apps you install are probably the real versions that were found on warez sites :)

But I do agree WM has way less ads then anything else.

i disagree... tell me, show me, link me, screenshot, to winmo apps with ads..please, id love to see them.. because they dont.. winmo and MS dont do that.. i dont have any warez anywhere on my phone, never have, never will.. i even paid for WMWifiRouter back when it was still $30 bucks.. everything i get comes from our own PPCG, freewarepocketpc.net, XDA, or ever occassionally from 1800pocketpc.. and nothing ever has any ads..

id love to be wrong here guys, just show me though, because winmo doesnt have the whole adware compaign going on that Android does

not sure this needs to be discussed as much as simply suggesting adblock. People can react ( which is negative ) or respond ( Positive ) to the informative information you're giving. Thanks for that, since I Had NO idea that the android platform applications are going to have ads. I dont care either way though, im so excited for the EVO and I am a WinMo person right now, so I'm a complete n00b when it comes to android apps.


Everyone will always find a reason to complain. Evo and everything that comes with it is not that reason.

So Sorry to accuse you, I was wrong, I was just trying to show that Swype doesn't capture your username and passwords, similar to what the android message is.

Also the person that posted after me, said that always shows up when you install an aftermarket keyboard.
