Re: +++RaiderFan's KITCHEN (WM 6.1, 6.5,6.5.X)**07/09/10

Hey guys. I'm new to cooking ROMs. I made a 6.1 ROM that works ok for me and would like to make a 6.5 based on 21911. The major problem I'm having is with memory. I'd like to get close to 40MB free RAM if possible. Can you provide some tips about key things to avoid? If memory wasn't an issue, I'd probably build a ROM with the following in it...

Remove all the "useless" SYS packages. Also remove Lockscreen and LockscreenEA.
Include all OEM packages except for XDA_UC and RealVGA. Leave out user customization tool as well? Not sure what that does.
Include following EXT's: Adobe, Bing, Facebook, Calculator, reboot, JZSmartMort, Marketplace, officemobile2010, mortscript, Motweets, omarket, pocketexpress, totalcommander, operamini, skyfire, and youtube.

Would appreciate feedback and guidance about sys, oem, and ext's that hog memory. Also looking for back on pagepool and other advanced settings.

Thanks!

yep, just updated the second post with a link to it. Seems to be just as good as 21911, maybe .05 MB more FREE RAM at boot lol but battery life is still great. in my opinion of course.

To be honest i have never got more than 35 MB Free when cooking in those type of apps you are mentioning. Page pool can effect free RAM yes, i do not know much about it myself though, i keep mine at 0, but i know you can go as high as 15... UC_AutoRun can be used to install cabs on first boot like your carrier does on stock ROMS, there is a link the the xda-wiki on the first page that explains a little. Good Luck my friend!

I\'m having the same issue as you, you really need to install everything possible to the sd card. I've taken everything I could out for the rom I'm about to flash, including myphone and marketplace (I don't use them). this phone's ram really is as useless as tits on a bull.

I'm wondering why a cooked-app consumes "application RAM" or available memory. I can build a stripped ROM and get almost 40MB free. I can manually install apps on a stripped ROM to RAM ("storage RAM") and still have a great deal of available memory. Just doesn't make sense to me...

I guess I need to use stripped ROMs, manually install my apps, and install most of them to SD? If yes, is there a list of apps that don't behave well from SD?
