Can I 'dump' the nbh file ROM file of, say, NRG's ROM, take away a file programs, add a few, then recreate it? Can someone point me in the right direction?
thanks,
Yes, you can dump a ROM and do what you're saying, but most chefs "protect" their ROMS, so if you dump them, all you get is one folder with ALL the files, no registries, all jumbled together. Usually, what we can dump are ROMS by carriers, which aren't protected, so when you dump them, they categorize into the right folders and EXTs.

Re: [ Kitchen ][ 3-5 ][ v1.6 R3 ][28232 / 23542 / 21893 / 21056] Calkulin's WVGA Kitc

page pool question. is that the one that comes up after you create the ROM, it brings up the utility where you click on the file, then click close, and then the install screen comes up?
mine is defaulted to 6, should i change it to 16?

also, how many of y'all cook google maps in? is it too much of a program memory hog and should go on the sd card, or is it ok on the device?

as a side note, I went back and deleted all apps off the phone memory that weren't cooked in, and i'm still only at 140k program memory. i remember when i started putting apps in after flash, i was over 200k. time for some more investigating.

If you have a Sprint Pro 2, It's a good idea to make it 16. Even the Sprint official ROM has the Pagepool set to 15. Google Maps is used by Manila contacts to show an address of a contacts address if one exists for a particular contact. I usually cook it in, and it doesn't hog much space. If you keep latitude on in the background, that's a slightly different story.

My ROM is stripped and nearly bare, but has Google Maps. It runs well with a 12 mb page pool for days without a restart Heavy camera, web and text use, only used 12 minutes since the 21st of last month!!!

...thanks. That's too bad they are protected. NRG ROM's are great, but I'd like to customize it a bit. There's plenty of things I don't use...

Suggestions?

Thats because this is not an ext its an oem, go to kitchen under oem\409 rt click camera and choose open location, then delete this folder and replace with the one provided, make sure when you close reopen the kitchen you select the new package to true.
