Guys do I need this if I want to use my TP2 in EU ? or is it for US gsm networks ?

this is for us gsm. the tp2 (sprint, verizon, uscc) are unlocked for outside of north america.

Thanks - so I guys sprint TP2 is ok to use any sim card in EU without any need of unlocking

No. You still need to unlock your phone but not with the SIM unlocker in this thread.

You call Sprint, tell them you're traveling to Europe and ask them to unlock your phone. I'm not a Sprint customer, but theoretically, they give you the unlock code for your phone at no charge.

Now, you can use a European SIM card in your phone. Keep in mind that your phone number will change using the foreign SIM card (i.e., your phone number will be what is assigned to that SIM card).

i know you were trying to help, but you're wrong. the sprint tp2 is already sim unlocked out the box, just gsm-locked in north america. they don't have unlocked codes, they want you to use their sim card. but you are correct in stating that you just pop in a foreign sim card while overseas and go.

I agree...I was in Central America while in Costa Rica I used a sim card from claro(phone company) and didn't need to call sprint to unlock my phone.

As I said, I'm not a Sprint customer. The last time I had to deal with them was with the old BB world phone (8830?) for someone and that needed to be unlocked.

its all good. different phones work different, my brother has the intrepid and sprint gave him the code. they wouldn't do that for me and my tp2 lol.

Just in case any of you are interested, here's the source code and files for the unlocker:

It was originally compressed with mpress, so I extracted that and de-compressed it. Then it was run through Reflector to generate the C# source code. In order to re-compile it, you will need to clean up the InitializeComponent in form1.cs under AthenaUnlocker, just delete what VS2008 gives errors for.
