Auto Provision...very nice. Good work Zig.

On a different note, this is more of a wishlist item but is there a possibility of Swype being used on this ROM? It's not a necessity but a nice toy to play with. Not sure though since this is a user interface item.

Great work on the auto-provisioning!

This ROM feels very responsive. Google Maps opened faster than I've ever seen it open. Not sure if Google tweaked the app or if this is a testament to the speed of the ROM. I hadn't tried the newest version of GM prior to this.

Any thoughts on cooking in the "music_lib_rebuild_at_startup" tweak? It saves from having to wait to build the library when the mnusic tab is selected. I'm not sure if it has any ill effects on the system, but I have been using it for a couple of weeks and haven't noticed any drawbacks.

The problem with that is not everyone can agree on threaded or unthreaded for the MMS. The auto prov will install the carrier provisioning automatically for you, just one less step for you to do. You can decide on your MMS version, drop it in XDA, and run that after the second boot.

Since Mike prefers more stock, and not everyone likes Swype, to include me, he leaves it up to you to install.

Glad to here it. The issue we might have is that there are a few people that seem to have something screwy going on with their phones, i.e. the radio doesn't set the correct reg key, which in that case, there will be a Quick Link setup for Provisioning. After you run the original provisioning, Mike modified the prov cabs to clear that out.

I guess my question would then be, how different is the threaded/unthreaded MMS?

Is it a simple registry change? a simple registry change and a few file changes? what exactly? You could default threaded (what i like), and have an option to switch to unthreaded in a simple cpanel app like the old carrier provisioning...

Zig - auto provision is nice. I'm thinking though, some type of "splash screen" or wording that "Auto Provision is in Progress" would be best. I foresee some issues with guys having no issue it has been provisioned.

What are your thoughts on this?

I thought about that, but it runs during the normal setup process from RUNCC, so if there's not a Provisioning App in Quick Links, it's provisioned. However, I can always be over-ruled by the boss.

I totally agree...really nice feature and top-drawer programming.

I'm just saying on first boot I had no idea it ran. I guess the only problem that could happen is users will install provisioning on top of itself.

I'm not sure how hard it would be to have a "your device is auto provisioning", and i'm just saying most people are so used to provisioning their device, i believe they will anyways unless something is telling them it's auto provision, or the log updates, really and i mean really point this out.

just my 2cents. see what Mike thinks.

If someone does not realize it auto prov.....when they go to manual install it is going to ask them if they wanna uninstall the previous....should give em a good idea that it is already in....not saying your idea is bad...just saying

Hmm, not sure what I messed up on my end, but messing up stuff is a part of beta testing right lol? Anyways, I'm getting 45318 KB of usage on GWES.EXE.. With nothing open at all, I'm getting 78% of my memory being used, and its been I'd say 4 hours since I've last rebooted. Is this normal?

I'm still running the bear rom with about 4 hrs of use, just loaded Windows Live, My phone and arcsoft. my memory is at 49% Gwes is super low 87K.

agreed so this just has to be communicated in the change log so everyone is on the same page. Flyers is right, it does ask you if you want to uninstall the previous... not saying I did that by mistake or something :)

lol no, I haven't run half the stuff, and I only change one thing on HDTweak (But I haven't run it at all yet) and usually thats the close album on X, haven't run Pandora, Slacker or Midomi yet either, only thing I've ran so far from all of those is Mini 5, besides the reg edits and such hmm

My bad, its vey blurry, but i placed a disclaimer on it stating your phone will be auto-provisioned to your carrier.

Haha, okay so for me, it might be because I've done a lot of stuff

Same, since around 1 PM I've done

- Facebook
- Twitter
- Added 3 e-mail accounts
- 150+ texts
- A few MMS'
- Opera Mini 5
- Opera 9.(7?) as well (The default one)
- Windows Live Messenger (Though I turned it off)
- Updated weather a few times (Could weather wallpaper be an issue?)
- Zip Mobile to open up a file
- Changed tabs on home screen (removed stocks lol)
- Or maybe, could it be because I locked my device once, I always noticed that it usually takes a big chunk of memory to lock lol

That's practically all I've done, and if it matters, my phones been awake almost the entire time, god this battery life is amazing lol 4 hours of heavy usage and only 20% down!

Maybe add a line to LogoMsg.bmp to indicate that the carrier will be detected and automatically provisioned.

lmao I must be a horrible beta tester if I'm breaking it within 4 hours of use and making my GWES more than double of everyone else's, I think I'll use the hell out of it tomorrow and see if it happens, but I'll just keep it non-rebooted right now, in case MM has some suggestions on what to do haha, though I closed SMS and now its 44944 kb!
