Hey TJ,

In my experience I have found that the available memory has no real direct correlation with whether you install CABS to the phone storage or the storage card.

When you install a CAB to the storage card, there is a small amount of Program memory that gets used just like if you were to install that same CAB to the Phone Storage.

Maybe I am way off base here, but I used to focus on putting all my CABS on my Storage Card, only to find that my phones available memory was still pretty low after a day or two use. 35MB to 40MB Free or 75% to 85%.

I then chose to put all my CABS in the XDA_US folder on the storage card and just install them all to the phone storage.

Low and behold, I experienced the same low memory as when I used to put them all on the storage card.

I think it boils down to how many CABS a person has installed and not so much whether they are installed to the SC or the Phone Storage.

Thoughts?

EDIT:

With 90% of my 33 CABS installed to the Phone Storage, on a softreset, my free memory is 60% or 75MB.

Ooops set off a chain reaction..hehehe...

I guess there can be base to it as when you install things to your card it may take a bit longer to load the program to start...as your phone is reading from the SC memory instead of the Phones Storage...I personally install most of my tweaks on the Phone storage and programs on the SC...

But as always as we discover it is all about personal preferences and what works for you...its called having cake and eating it too...:D...:evil4:

Re: ░░░░ MightyROM.com ░░░░ Windows Phone® ░░░░ Update Available!

I assumed the file access to things installed to the SC was something that I did not have to comment on, as I agree with you 100% on that, and is another reason I install to the phone.

I was merely addressing the whole free memory issue, based upon install to SC or Phone Storage.

Have a good one!

I thought on MightyROM it was fixed so Phone as Modem didn't tell sprint you were trying to use their $30 a month service.

What is this huge performance boost that the new official rom offers suppose to be? i tried it but to be honest FF is a lot smoother. Am i doing something wrong?

Can installing Darknija's taskbar really impact performance that much because that is the only thing different?

jshaas2 05-25-2010 07:42 PM

Re: ░░░░ MightyROM.com ░░░░ Windows Phone® ░░░░ Update Available!

There is no way it's going to affect it to the positive. I don't run taskbar's other than what's stock, and DarkNinja's is on FF, while Mike's stock taskbar is on the official. FF is smooth, no doubt. i would no doubt say one of the smoothest 6.5.x rom, but it's not as smooth as official..nor is it intended to be. It's eye candy and smoothness all in one.

Well, on a stock rom if you use sprint (the trick is getting it to sprint because of cmgardian), that "undetected". Now I pay for PAM, so I can use either ok. Actually, I have to use PAM sometimes. If you were to check "force cell connection" registry key, you would find it says sprint.

6.5.5 has better memory management. Hence why it might seem smoother...

So on MightyROM it shouldn't matter which one I use.

Or Sprint is the one I should use, and leave the Phone as Modem alone.

Thanks for all your help btw.

I would just stick with the "Sprint" connection. When I was using MR on my TP1, i tried PAM a few times, and i couldn't receive incoming calls while using PAM.

Is there any working hack for this ROM that allows the zoombar to scroll, particularly in the Messaging app? I am in dyer need of a replacement for d-pad action to march through individual emails.

I tried the ZoomBarPlus but it doesn't seem to work...

I've tried FF and I prefer OF. FF is not as stable as OF. Flashing back to the latest OF. Hope the last OF is even better/stable than the previous OF. Anyone know the difference between OF 050110 & 052410?

GO with 05/24/10

I don't have the changelog, don't think mike gave one yet,
It's got newer manila. I think it was built off a better rom. CS to be specific.

Thats one of the things I miss about my original TP.

Heres what I do: When I have the email app open, I slide open my keyboard to navigate through the emails with my arrow keys to the email I want to read then tap on it.

In the HTC messaging app(SMS) I just scroll through them with my finger.

One thing I do like about the zoom bar is it will turn the back light back on without having to touch the screen when I'm reading something and the dimmer kicks in.

Not sure if your aware of this, but when you use the arrows on the keyboard to scrool thru email, you can just hit the enter key on the keyboard to view the email you want.

after i've installed the new updated mighty rom official version, i'm having problems with my media. i can take pictures fine, but i'm unable to view my videos. it will take the video fine, but when i try to play it it just flat out won't.

i've been having trouble with transferring music as well. i've put music on to my sd card and when i try to play it on media player the song either starts off in the middle, or it actually plays a totally different song.

any ideas?

* a quick note, prior to updating to the newer build everything worked fine.

Re: ░░░░ MightyROM.com ░░░░ Windows Phone® ░░░░ Update Available!

So I first flashed this 2 days ago and my battery life was AMAZING..!! Well yesterday I was going through that thread full of Fonts for TP2, and after like the 3rd or 4th time I changed fonts my phone kept freezing and I tried to open up programs but they'd be completely white screens with the programs title at the top like as if it were going to open but freeze... Long story short, I had to clear storage and start over, and now my battery life is garbage... Yesterday I went from 100% at 9am to some heavy usage and at about 3pm I was at only 89% and that's pretty good considering what I was doing... This morning I woke up and phone was at 100%, I went and left my morning urination deposit, washed my hands, brushed my teeth, had some slight gas as I left the bathroom, went back to the bedroom to get my phone off the bed and it was at 94% lol... I lost 6% in about 5 minutes of doing NOTHING, hmmmm odd... Oh well I guess sometimes the flash is good and sometimes it's not so good... Maybe I'll flash again later if this shitty battery keeps it up..!!

After you hard reset or load a new Rom it always takes a few days for the battery to get back to a accurate charge reading from my experience. just takes a few drains and charges. but thats just me.

yeah, I've been doing that...
Wouldn't it be great to have a keyboard mode where only the arrow keys appear so not all that screen real estate is taken by QWERTY? As it is, I see only 3 emails with the keyboard deployed...

Others report the zoombar hack working, but presumably with other ROMs... sigh...

+1

This is very much true, all freshly installed OSs must settled first before you can see true performance which includes battery life.

side bar: Allowing an OS to settle takes 2-3 days or battery cycles, not 2-3 hrs.
