Try manually going into bootloader (poweroff device, hold down power and volume down buttons until tri color screen), then plug it into usb and it should change from "serial" to usb", and try to flash it that way, oh and if you have a ROM image on the root of your sd card, when you get into bootloader you will have to press volume down to cancel out the flashing from sd card process

I just right clicked and extracted it to a folder then ran the update that way. Did you try that? Is it in bootloader?

You can try to unplug the device when you see it getting hung up in the process and then plugging it back in. It could possibly solve your issue.
