I get the same thing as well. I think its something to do with twitter updating their security policies...

Yeah, they got rid of multiple authentication methods and are only supporting oauth or something like that. Several companies did not update their sw, so now they don't work. There was some stuff going around on twitter that it had been fixed but seems like that was wishful thinking. With the twitter tab a bit buggy on 2018 I was using motweets anyway, so not much impact for me personally. Give it a try. Not a bad app.

I have used them before and did like it...arent they shareware now?

I think they have an ad supported version. It was the only one of 3 I tried that worked after the change twitter made, so it won by default, but it does seem the nicest alternative.
