So I don't lead you astray...the amount of bars you see is dependent on the type of tsk dll the thread starter chose to use. Some task bars display a full signal at 5 bars while others display a full signal at 7 bars. If this rom uses the 5 bar tsk.dll then your signal will show as being 1-2 bars weaker when in reality it isn't. If it was as 7 bar display for full bars then it would show a relatively stronger signal 1-2 bars. The end result is you are getting the same signal strength from the radio you are using whether you are using a sprint stock rom or the threadstarters rom with the same radio...the displaying of the signal could be misleading. I am not saying don't try a different radio, just saying the rom is not going to casue a weaker signal. I can guarantee you the signal strength is the same, it just doesn't look like it:mrgreen:

OK, this is anecdotal as Hell, but I tested earlier and got 2 bars. Flashed to stock and went to the same spot and got all 5 bars. Proof of nothing. With no evidence of dropped calls or data problems this is not meant to even be an "issue". Just wanted to follow up. Anyway, need to flash today's version. :)

The signal strenth indicator is determined by changing the registry key:

[HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\CDMA] "SignalStrengthLevel"

The default value is 5. Changing it to 7 will give you the old 7-bar signal icon (discussed on page 28 Post# 276). This rom uses the stock Windows Mobile 6.5 taskbar, and I have never heard of nor is there a file contained in the rom called tsk.dll. The signal strength icons are contained in CDMA_RSSI_PPC.dll. The radio version in the stock ROM and the Sprint Lover's ROM are the same and can be viewed using the ##778# code. Just FYI :)

Also - I can literally move one foot within my home and see a difference in cellular strength. I am sure if I was walking through my home with a radio playing music it would do the same. It doesn't mean anything other than there are different strength levels whereever you are standing and I am sure many factors can affect that.

Great info Chris,...(On the signal strength).
I should know this but here's a noob question,
I have Dusk theme installed...how do I stop the weather animation in home screen? I know with a wallpaper I can change the dword to 2. But I'm not using a wallpaper but the Dusk background itself and I dont get the option of changing the dword. Can someone remind me how to do this? ](*,)

Yep, I was aware that the radio was stock. That is what made me suspect something was up with my phone. Thought maybe my antennae was going or something. Is it possible the either stock Sprint ROM or WinMo 6.1 polls for the signal more often? Maybe this is just catching the signal when it fluctuates up and displaying it. Irrelevant either way, it just got my curiosity up.

Found the solution for disabling the Home Screen weather animation on manila 2.1:

:headbang:
Hi to all, after reading so many threads I found a way to disable weather animation without changing home backround:
you have to change this registry setting:
HKCU/Software/HTC/Manila/HomeBackgroundPath set to empty value and you have to create following string value:
HKCU/Software/HTC/Manila/defaulthomebackgroundpath set to 0.
Hope this will help someone.
Have a good day.

Loving the last build Chris. I've been running smooth for the last day and a half. Youtube works, opera slider works, activesync works, facebook contacts work. Everything so far just works. Haven't had a mms message in a few days but I'll assume it works because it worked in every other build. Now I guess I'll have to just wait and see if sprint releases a 2.5 ROM, lol!

in Opera, if you try to scroll before the page is loaded it takes you all the way to the top of the page, and zooms you out while it continues to load

Was on the stock sprint 6.1 ROM and Opera didn't do this, just an observation, Great ROM, and very solid

p.s also i could not get push internet to update ppcgeeks every 3 hours or every hour after i checked and it said (last update 5 hours ago) switched it to 1hour and still does not push the internet page

Hi, Chris. Here's a little something. I have run a program called Pocket E-Sword since my first iPaq in 2002. The latest version runs on the stock ROM and your ROM's up to and including your 3.4.10 ROM. Any idea? I wonder if .NET CF 3.5 might be the culprit. This program is a reader program that requires the installation of SQLCE in order for the program to recognize the reference files. Thanks for the ROM's, Chris. Very nice job.

matt

Edit: Sorry it was late. I forgot to say that this program is not running. It says it can't find the bibles/reference books. This usually only happens if the sqlce hasn't been installed, yet. Thanks for any help.

Symbols work fine for me everywhere except within Opera which is a known bug that exists even on the stock Sprint ROM. I just opened a fresh text message and slid out the keyboard and pressed FN+SYM and all is working as it should.

Hey guys,
I'm having a weird issue and I was just wondering if I was the only one. Whenever I dial someone from my contact list if I try to immediately hang up the call the phone it lags. Meaning that lets say I accidently press a name on my contacts list by accident. I hit the end key and the phone says that the call has end but I can hear the phone rining through the receiver. Even if i continue to hit the end button it will still not hang up the call and it will continue to ring. I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue. I am using spb mobile shell 3.53 and msskipproultimate so that might be it. Is anyone else having this issue?

Yes this happened to me. I accidentally dialed my sister and it rang a few times before it hung up. I thought maybe the call didn't go through but she called me back saying she missed my call.

On a side note, I tried several roms and this is my favorite! This little problem isn't a dealbreaker for me.

As I have never used Push Internet, I gave it a a test run for a few days and here are my observations from using both the Stock Sprint rom as well as the Sprint Lover's rom:

1. You must first enable push internet under the Manila Internet page (I also opted to update when roaming)
2. You must set a schedule during which the pages may auto-update (Once push internet is activated, you may set a schedule under Menu>Schedule Settings)
3. Set your bookmarks in Opera (I made bookmarks for Youtube, Ebay, Facebook and the Sprint PCS homepage)
4. Add your push internet pages (I added them from my bookmarks)
5. Visit the page from the link within the Manila Internet tab. (This will activate the push schedule and you will now have a grey downward pointing arrow by your pages)
6. During the time schedule set, your pages will auto-download data at the set intervals (I used 1-hour intervals for the test)
7. Once auto-updated, your push page grey arrows will now be green indicating the page was updated.

NOTES: Even when using the stock Sprint rom for a day, I observed that push internet pages will download at their set time schedules, give or take a few minutes. After a shut down or soft reset, you will have to re-visit one of the push pages to reactivate the schedule (creating the downward arrow once again)

You just answered the question that had been on my mind all day since I flashed to the official 6.5 rom. I like your rom better, just as stable as the official rom IMO (I have flashed back to your 3/11/10 rom, I like the organization and simplicity better than the stock 6.5).

Thanks for all your hard work!

@livejazz

I run this program too and it runs fine on my TP2 (I'm running the 3/11/10 rom now, but it worked fine when I ran the 3/4/10 & the 3/9/10 roms). What you need to do is locate where the bible files are located on your sd card (if they are located there, if not, you will need to re-download your bible files and save the files themselves on to your sd card, this way you never lose them again, even when you hard reset your phone). Once you know where the bible files are located, next time you open Pocket e-sword, navigate to where the bible files are located (which more often than not is another folder called "Pocket e-Sword" again) and it should pick the files from there. You do need to instal SQLCE on your sd card (if that's where you have installed Pocket e-Sword) before Pocket e-Sword will find and display the bibles.
ps: The Pocket e-sword and SQLCE cabs have been updated sometime ago, I hope those are what you are running? If not, here are the updated cab files and the bible files I use in a zip file. Extract the zip file to the root of your sd card in to a folder called "Pocket e-sword" (I believe this will be done for you automatically), instal the 2 cab files in there on to your sd card, run Pocket e-sword, navigate to the "Pocket e-sword" on the root of your sd card to find the bible files, voila, you should be all set. if you have any other issues PM your contact number and I'll call you to walk you through it.

Thanks, Yellowman, for the help. I have never been stumped like that in all these years I have run this program through all these windows mobile upgrades, etc. Turns out that, for some odd reason, all of the .bbl/.cmt/.dct files got corrupted when I changed their location on the storage card. I simply reloaded them from my hd. Thanks alot for the response, though.

Chris, while you are making the stock rom better (& showing Sprint how to do the job right, :-) ), can you remove Opera 9.7 and replace it with Opera 10? & also upgrade Google to 4.0? Oh, and also map the right soft key on the Today home screen to "Lock" instead of "Menu" as it is now? (Ok, I know that last one seems to be a weird one that's particular to me, but I need to be able to lock my phone from the today screen. I'll take a cab for that, just like last time, :-) ).
If I think of anything more I'll let you know. Thanks.
ps: Just thought of another one, can you increase the number of shortcut links to as many as possible (definitely more than the 6 or 9 that Sprint has available on the Today home screen of the stock 6.5). Thanks again.

I will most likely leave Opera 9.7 installed. Users can always install Opera 10 at their leisure and just choose not to make it the default browser. I am still maintaining my "stock" theme and trying to remove and clean up all of the unnecessary junk Sprint installed and make sure that everything funcitons properly. Definitely made some good progress so far. Let me know if the Lock CAB I made on the 2nd post works for this manila version.

The Lock .cab does work in all of your roms (3/4/10, 3/9/10/ 3/11/10) but it does not work on the stock 6.5 rom (that was the first thing I tried after I installed the rom and saw the right soft key mapping to "Menu"). That was part of the reason I switched back to your rom.
Ok with Opera 10, I'll install that myself and set it (or Skyfire) as the default browser and just hide the icon for Opera 9.7.
Thanks for all your hard work. If you need a tester for anything, just PM me and I will do it. Thanks.

Ok with Opera 10, I'll install that myself and set it (or Skyfire) as the default browser and just hide the icon for Opera 9.7.
Thanks for all your hard work. If you need a tester for anything, just PM me and I will do it. Thanks.

I will look into making a new CAB for the Lock shortcut for the new 6.5 with Sense.

UPDATE: CAB posted in second post to change you left manila softkey to Lock.
