I was thinking of SIM unlocking and buying a prepaid SIM for emergency purposes in case I'm in an area where GSM works and CDMA won't. Does anyone foresee a problem with this or is it as doable as it sounds?

not just doable, it flat out works, on all supporting roms which includes all stock roms I'm aware of, some custom roms may not have sim active

That was fun. Picked up an 02 wireless prepaid sim at Bestbuy, activated and installed it and then ran the unlocker and upgraded the radio to 2.23WU. Flawless all around. I now have two phone numbers on my phone and can use GSM towers in emergency situations. I feel so gangster doing stupid shit like this. And my nerd cred just shot up 500+ points.

if you get stuck in bootloader, just run the re-locker. your phone won't be bricked, and after running the re-locker, it'll take you right back to where you left off. just make sure to only stick with these radios, don't flash a gsm one.

Hmm... Is anyone else experiencing pretty fast battery drain with this radio? I used to be able to make it through the school day dropping only about 5% battery, but when I flashed it with this radio it drained like 10% in a school day. I'll probably still keep using this radio because automatic works and so does data, but is anyone else having this problem?
