Anyone figure out how to get transparent softkey curtain and taskbar with CHT1.8? MaxTF3D is a no-go for me...anyone else try yet? Darren? LOL...

I'm trying to get the TaskBar and SoftKey backgrounds transparent. I used MaxTF3D with the prior CHT, but it isn't working with 1.8. Here, they're black...

Edit: I've already checked two other threads, and nothing's working with 1.8

I found a working "transparent" method as I also found out that MaxTf3D doesn't work with 1.8cht.

Use HDwalls to create a cab that skins your taskbar and softkeybar to the portions of the cutoff wallpaper. I'd explain it more but I'm wobbly from 14 hours trapped on a boat :P.

Edit, I've only tried this on 6.5 as I dont do 6.5.x

Generated these two files: hdwall_taskbar.png and HDwall_softtkeybar.png.

That's where I am now, but "can't" figure out where to put these files. :drunken:

Place your images in \Windows

Go to: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Taskbar\TaskBarTheme Image
Change the path to: \Windows\hdwall_taskbar.png

Go to: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\SoftKeyBar\SoftKeyBa rThemeImage
Change the path to: \Windows\HDwall_softtkeybar.png

Okay, after loading image, cropping, etc. ... in Manila Cab Creator window, hit convert, then create cab. Ran the cab, done!

Hey sorry I was unable to provide those instructions sooner than you figured it out!

Yep thats what to do essentially :P You can include a portrait wallpaper but I don't as I like to set my background style (back ground 4 all) through cookie.

So in summary for anyone else wanting transparent bars on the new cookie 1.8 (and this is just a temporary fix until someone comes along with an easier method) here you are:

1. Download onto your PC: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=503511
2. LOAD... the image
3. Hit auto crop, apply, then close. Choose No for "Set output directory to XXXXXXX"
4. Hit create cab. Make sure only 1 checked box "Delete Wallpaper Manila files after CAB creation". Highlight both softkeybar.png & taskbar.png then hit add files.
5. Choose a destination for the cab so you can find it and hit Create CAB.
6. Softreset after installing the cab.
Yay we're done now you have created a cab to make your current wallpaper have transparent soft&taskbars. Jeez that took a lot of work due to the new 1.8cookie mods 8-[
