Re: [ROM][01-03]WM 6.5.3.3 28205 Manila 2.5 Titanium [UC/Sashimi] - FINAL TP RELEASE
I didn't like it and DON'T recommend it!
1) It was SLOW! I don't know what happened, but I went from his last 28011 ROM (which worked great) to the 28205 final and even did a second hard reset after the 28205 finished the first load post flashing. There was (not very) random pausing when trying to make calls, view texts, open emails, or just about everything. 2) Text messaging was horrible. It seems the manila 2.5 text integration was better than before (no more all messages wm), but it was DOG slow and I could barely send anything. It also sent multiple copies of my previous text without me doing anything (in fact I had to soft reset several times just to use the phone). It also seemed to put my previous text in the entry box without me doing anything (I had to delete the text before typing, so perhaps this is related to the re-sending previous msg issue). 3) The dialer had issues. It would not fit the screen (I think this is a known issue) and was slow to respond to interaction (buttons, touchscreen). 4) I didn't like the new soft keyboard. It had a good premise, but locked up a LOT and just wasn't usable. 5) I know there were a few other things but I can't remember them atm (mostly cosmetic or with 3rd party sw he included). It barely lasted 24 hours till I had enough. This morning I flashed back to 28011 and it's running fine (with the known manila 2.5 issues). Thanks Raid for the effort, but I think this duck needs more time in the oven... EDIT: 28011 is NOT running fine after all. I'm now having problems getting the text messaging to work and it is less responsive than before. I did change the page pool to 20, so I'll try reflashing it at 16 (default) and perhaps that will help. I also don't know if I did a second hard reset so perhaps that didn't help (though I still can't beileve that is necessary, I mean come on, doesn't it format the memory before it reflashes? So why would we need to do a flash dance? I know it seems to help sometimes for whatever reason, but geez, this is stupid...)

Re: [ROM][01-03]WM 6.5.3.3 28205 Manila 2.5 Titanium [UC/Sashimi] - FINAL TP RELEASE
I'm with jspenc3. While I appreciate that RZ posted the latest ROM, he kind of left us high-and-dry. There was no change log/new feature/revision history, not even a high-level list of changes, leaving us to guess what changed, and whether or not we really wanted to upgrade. I took a chance and am sorry I did.
I have found similar problems to what jspenc mentions. I've finally found a cab to disable the dialer and am in the process of searching for a different dialer. The text messaging is practically unusable, so I'm also looking for a cab to disable the Sense 2.5 IM UI. The Swype keyboard is cool, but not as responsive. Maybe Swype's "swirly" feature just takes some getting used to, but I did like the old keyboard better. Also, battery life all of a sudden is horrible. Long Press End Key still wasn't present, so I installed the cab that I used on 28011 to enable it. Unfortunatly, holding down my End key has been a no-op, both before and after. These are only some of the problems I've encountered, and I'm seriously leaning on switching back to 28011. Last edited by signothefish; 01-06-2010 at 01:13 AM. |

Maybe it's the difference in the way we flashed. I flashed from SD this time. For 28011, I had flashed from ActiveSync.
