Thanks. Is there a difference using the dumped vs the shipped version?

NSFFAN might be a little late in posting the update. We won gold in hockey yesterday.

Dumped requires SPL unlocking and shipped version is an official release for your phone from the provider that does not require unlocking. The dumped version is just pulled from a phone and an installer is built around it.

In my opinion if there is a shipped version for your carrier I would use that over a dumped version. I haven't looked at other carriers but for my carrier (Telus) there is only a dumped version. They never updated the OS so there are no signed updates for my TP.

Re: *Updated February 3rd* NFSFAN's Custom WM6.5.x ROMs

Thanks. Sorry for all the questions, but I'm kinda new to this. So I already unlocked my phone to install this ROM. Do I need to relock it to flash the shipped version?

As far as I know they only time you need to relock is if you expect to have warranty work done on your phone. SPL unlocking voids your warranty. I flashed stock without re-locking... but then again, my telus ROM is dumped. So I can't say for sure if you need to re-lock to use a shipped ROM. I don't think you do.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but no you do not have to relock your phone to flash the shipped rom. I like to flash back to the stock rom every now and again in hopes that it irons out some bugs that may have been worked into my phone over several custom rom flashes, and I haven't had to relock my phone so yeah... flash stock, hard reset, then flash the new rom, hard reset and away you go with a much improved touch pro

you got er pontiac...unless youre returning your phone for warrenty work you will never have to relock it. and yes, many say flashing to stock before you flash to a new rom helps out..i admit i do it too. but everyone has theyre own way of doing it, lots flash from sd card and i never do. ive tried a few times and its always been a bad flash, i always always flash from bootloader...give them all a try and see what works best for you

Re: *Updated February 3rd* NFSFAN's Custom WM6.5.x ROMs

Thanks all. I was wondering why it was recommended to flash back to stock before flashing a new ROM. I guess it's just preference and/or paranoia? LOL Still, I'll flash to stock just to be safe. Thanks for all the advice.
