Again, DCD said his Kitchen wasn't designed for end users. Its there for chefs who prefer it and know how to use it. For everyone else, he doesn't recommend it, and turns out its really not necessary. I'm starting to realize cooking OEMs into a ROM is hardly ever beneficial, especially when cabs are easily uninstalled if you screw something up, and can be set up to autoinstall. But that's a whole 'nother story.
i know what you mean, but its alot simpler to find updated OEMs instead of updated cabs. if there was a link for all the updated cabs, and something that would be updated every once in a while, that would be good to do it this way. but since i havent found one, then ill prefer to use modified OEMs and this kitchen.

Re: dcd's hermann ROM & kitchen 2.16

I used DCD's sys (WM 6.5) (thanks!) and kitchen to create a rom... It seems I just cannot get a dialer that satisfies my needs, hehe.

DCD's default phonecanvas has the bug with the scrolling (I know it's not his fault and it's not a big deal but it is a tad annoying). I changed the dll that controls s2a so I could get rid of it (I use Pocketshield), it worked. So then I used the cprog method to get rid of the scrolling issue but that breaks up the functionality of adding new contacts and it's even more annoying. Idea scrapped.

Then, somehow I managed to also cook a version of the rom that uses the default WM dialer (I intended it to be Tachi, thanks Calkulin!), so it uses less ram and I don't mind its looks and for some reason preserved the functionality of the arrows of the data icon, first time I had seen the data icon work properly with the default WM dialer. I don't know if it's something that I did by mistake, or if it's just that parts of the tachi dialer that got cooked in that solved that issue. In short I don't even know if this is something everyone already knows and here I am thinking I found something so cool, hehe.

Unfortunately it pissed me off because there was no way I could disable the pop up notification that appears when receiving a call. It was showing up on top of Pocketshield (on and off rapidly) and that just looks incredibly ugly.

So I tried again with Calkulin's set up of the Tachi dialer and cooked with it. Oh My, it behaves beautifully and looks amazing (also this way I can get rid off the ugly notificaion pop up when gettin a call). If only there was a version of Tachi with no s2a and no ugly curtain during a call, big yuck.

All in all this is the happiest I've been with my phone, so I want to extend a big thanks to Calkulin and DCD (listed alphabetically, hehe :P).

(Posted same post in both threads just to thank you both for the terrific work! Pardon the big post.)

I am not experiencing the scroll issue, however, the slide to answer break is a mess. Having to call folks back, only to find them in your VM leaving a message BLOWS!!

My ?uestion is, what DLL hack is this, what are the benefits and where can i get info to apply?

Thanks in Advance..... DCD, you da mane!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't really call it a hack.

I just took a phcanhtc.dll from a phonecanvas that uses no s2a and replaced the one that comes with dcd's kitchen that does have s2a. That is all.

In my case it wasn't really malfunctioning... I just prefer to use my own s2a methods, i.e. Pocketshield.

Re: dcd's hermann ROM & kitchen 2.16

they have told me to leave it alone because this kitchen is intended more for chefs and not for the everyday user, but that dont mean i cant try! how do you think the chefs know what they know...

that being said.....let me get this straight, all i have to do is download the kitchen, put the oems in the oem folder, and then start the kitchen? let me know if im wrong...

also, after i have the kitchen up and running with my oems, what do i need to select in the kitchen in order to build my rom? a step by step process would be great...

thanks in advance!

Re: dcd's hermann ROM & kitchen 2.16

Was running 2.06 and loved it no Hiccups or freezes nothing but solid and fast, with 2.16 I am getting periodic freezes that last about 2-5 seconds. Everything just pauses, when it recovers it will then perform any screen taps or selection I did while it was frozen. Also anyone having trouble connecting to Wifi. Mine will scan and show the networks and then connect for a few seconds and then drop the connections. This is happening on 2 different wifi networks and these networks work fine on an iphone and another touch pro. My flash method from 2.06 to 2.16 was Hard Reset 2.06, Flash the Sprint Shipped ROM that is floating around, let it boot and run customizations, hard reset into boot loader and then flash to 2.16, let it boot and run customizations, Hard Reset, then 2 soft resets, then I started loaded my stuff.

Re: dcd's hermann ROM & kitchen 2.16

flashed DCD's Herman ROM v2.16 and while at it flashed to CDMA v1.12.34F radio + installed DCD's Sprint Carrier 2009.08.31 cab... now i cant receive calls/sms's, though i still can MAKE calls and send sms's... also, as soon i make a call, say my voicemail, i start receiving those missed sms's and also get that "you've got voicemail" notifications if someone left a voicemail...

any idea on how to get this sorted out, or at least track down what's causing this problem?

other than that, i LOVE this ROM... no unnecessary apps, a solid base to work with since i do all app installation myself

Re: dcd's hermann ROM & kitchen 2.16

wow, few days ago when i was still running your v2.00 ROM i had it on EVDO only (constant jumping between 1x/EVDO kills my battery) and i still could receive calls/sms's... oh well, i guess it must be something that you changed in v2.16.

thanks!
