If I could find a ROM that didn't have an answer delay I'd be happy. speed and other stuff are fine on many ROMS but all of them seem to slow down after a day or two and start to have same issue of the delay in answering. Have you used Advanced Config? It is known to cause this problem, and is covered in the Touch Pro Essentials thread. Look in the registry for this key,

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings]

make sure SuspendResume is set to #777 (not anything containing GPRS).

I'm sure this is your problem considering you say it starts about 24 hours later, aside from that though, the stock ROM is terrible, I recommend Juicy.
