ok. well, i charged battery to 60%, flashed stock, redownloaded this rom, flashed it, then did a hard reset. I get the exact same result as before.

Re: Elite Rom RC1 thread

Hmmm, now that its available im thinking of switching to it...

But guys, lets not be so hard on Elite, as ive said before, anticipation has increased expectation. This rom isnt going to make your TPs play HD video or do your calculus homework for you ( ), but it should be a mild improvement over some of the more amateur roms out there.

I think, if any, the issues with this rom can be directed at the winmo build number (234 if exact), but im willing to give it a try after a few more reviews. I never personally try anything that hasnt been reviewed before ( atleast for quality purposes )

Re: Elite Rom RC1 thread

Since alot of people probably looking for it, I'll give a quick review.

The Good:
- For the amount of software installed on it, it actually runs rather smooth.
- Both TF3D and Titanium work great (with an exception to TF3D stated in bad).
- Phone loads fast and is responsive.
- It actually connects to exchange (Havn't had an issue with the rom accepting my work's policies, which is a first, thanks).
- The camera seems to work alot better than some other roms. I no longer get lag issues and crappy pictures.
- There's a few new app's in there I havn't seen that seem to provide some cool functionality, but this isn't top of the good because it actually made my bad list too.

The Bad:
- Way to much bloatware on this puppy. I mean cmon, "Beer" program, this isn't an iPhone, we don't need stupid **** like that on it.
- There's ALOT of duplicate software, like 2 calcs, 2-4 task managers, 2 Voice Recorders, 2 Power setting managers, 2 IM clients and a few others.
- TF3D you can't change wallpapers, it just takes you to a red screen.
- There's a huge lag starting the phone up (probably caused by the amount of bloatware getting started).
- Installation was absolutely horrible. Have to Hard Reset several times, then soft reset and just keep resetting til **** works.
- Something just happened that the only icon on the start menu I see right now is the "Today" icon. Not sure whats up with that.

Overall, I think they put some work on getting the base pretty solid, which it seems to be, but have installed so much crap on top of it (yes alot of it is uninstallable), that it makes it hard to just navigate and find wtf you want. Although, I applaud them for getting 6.5 working as well as it is. This is definatly not a DCD rom where you'll get everything stripped out, this ROM has everything preconfigured and is more of a replacement for standard carrier roms, where end users aren't expected to install and configure thier own stuff.

I'm going to keep it for a little and see where they go with it, but I can promise, if it takes a weeks/months to release updates and fixes, this rom will be dead before its alive. I'd like to call this an "Elite" rom, but right now it really isn't, its got potential, but for the time, expectations and anticipation this rom seems nothing more than a DCD base with a few fixes tossed through PPC Kitchen with all the Options checked (Granted you can't get this combination from PPC Kitchen at this time, but that is what if feels like).

Is it a little disappointing? Yes. I expected stuff to work flawless.

Is it a great rom? Yes. It actually has alot of neat stuff in it.

Does it need to be improved and fixed up? Yes. As any other rom needs, it is going to all lay in the dedication of the chefs to fix up.

What I'd like to see?
1) A kitchen based on this rom. I think it would make a great kitchen.
2) Less garbage apps, Less "Folders", or at least better organization (you have a Microsoft Apps folder, but office isn't in it???)
3) Better installation process. There's nothing special about packing it up into a standalone rar executable, tossing "Elite" on the RUU picture, then demanding the user to hard and soft reset 20 times to get stuff to work (granted after you do that it does work).
4) Custom TF3D layout, the normal one is so boring, put a special touch to it.

In the end, thanks guys, it will keep me entertained for a little bit.
