Re: [ROM] [MAY.01.09] MightyROM 4/R3BORN

I’d like to give this ROM (not MM 5, but the earlier one) as a try at my first flash of my Sprint TP. I want to make sure I get it all correct (obviously) so here are my questions:
1) Do I download the MightyROM 4/R3BORN file or the MightyROM TouchPro edition?
2) What about the Mighty ROM essentials and the Sprint stuff? Are they not in the ROM but are essential?
3) The Themes? Are they not in the ROM already?

1) download the MightyROM 4/R3BORN file found on the first page/first post of this thread found here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...07&postcount=1

2) the MightyROM essentials are not included and you don't need them, they are just things that are carrier specific that are not included.

3) Themes are not included you just download them and install them.

hope this helps

Yes it does, but I have another issue. I have looked at all these ROM threads; Might 4.16 and 5, KK's loaded; Juicy7, etc, etc., and on all of them I'm reading about ppl having a problem with one thing or another. Either the camera won't work or this won't work, or the battery gets drained, blah, blah, blah. So my question is: Why do I want to flash at all? None of these seem to work w/o some problems?

Then don't flash. Trying out new things isn't for you. No problem. Some people don't like taking on new known and unknown problems in trade for fixing existing problems. It sounds like you would rather live with the existing problems of the original device.

Or to put it another way: Updating your device with a new custom firmware/ROM is a trade off. One one hand you might have a few new bugs that exist in the new ROM where things that had worked no longer function. On the other hand you will get a lot of things fixed that didn't work well in the original factory ROM. You'll get a lot of settings tweaks and other work done for you.

In the end: If you don't want to mess with your phone, don't want to run the risk of getting a new bug while fixing other bugs, and you don't want to customize your phone then maybe Windows Mobile wasn't the best choice for you at the beginning. Windows Mobile does take some work to make it realize its potential.

I know, that's probably the simplest solution, just don't flash and don't trade one bug for another, but you're right, that's why I got a WM Phone, to customize. I guess I'm just trying to find the most stable, fastest, coolest ROM to flash to, and not have any bugs... LOL What are my chances?

Re: [ROM] [MAY.01.09] MightyROM 4/R3BORN

Right now you should look at MightyROM 4.16. It's fast, great battery, and most importantly for you, the fewest problems.

There's nothing in a cooked ROM you can't do yourself with enough time, energy, and research. People flash to cooked ROMs because it saves them having to hack the crap out of their phone, a ton of trail, and a ton of error... plus, it's fun and nerdy.

YMMV, but Mighty gave me a huge performance and stability increase over the stock ROM. The camera thing is annoying, but really, it's the only loss of functionality compared to the things I gained--a faster, more stable, memory efficient phone that doesn't require a soft reset every twenty minutes. And the camera thing is temporary--be patient until someone finds a permanent solution, or work on one yourself. In the mean time, it's a fair trade for everything else you get.

Just my two cents.

Mike, Wanted to say thanks again. Just when I thought 4.16 was about as good as it gets, you come out with R3BORN. Keep up the good work and please remember we all are deeply grateful for what you do.
