Is there any harm of installing Batti or similar battery indicators ?

I don't see Batti or any other batter yindicators used on any of Chefs' ROMS here...

Is there any specific reason ? I personally like seeing the battery indicator on top of the page to know when should the phone go back to charger. But given that none of the chefs use it, I was wondering if that is because of any adverse impact / battery drain issues due to those indicators ?

Really ? I use Batti 2.4 and hasn't given me any issues with Mighty or Silence ROMS (6.5). Does it not show you the right battery level or cause other issues / crashes ?

Re: Is there any harm of installing Batti or similar battery indicators ?

it just crashes on me, im not too worried about monitoring my battery usually, but i usually dont run either of those roms, so it might be some tweaks in the roms i run....but i like batti for setting the colors and stuff...pretty cool....i might try to use it again to see if it was just the cab i got or something..

vistahidebatt does cause minor lag issues, I'll see if i can find the thread where it was discussed and confirmed. The other batt apps should be fine though.

+1-Don't use vistahide if you like using your hardware keyboard:

(its talked about in various lengths throughout that entire thread)

Yea...vistahidebatterygauge causes keyboard lag.
dci battery gauge is a good replacement. Looks identical to vistahide. I attached it here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...50&postcount=7

Re: Is there any harm of installing Batti or similar battery indicators ?

Don't use vistahidebattery as said above. Batti takes a lot of CPU resources (~10-20%) every second or so. If you're charging, it uses about 50-60%, and if you use the always-on-top feature, the 10-20% jumps to a constant 30-40% CPU usage. It's a hog for something that should be so simple.

I now use dci battery (mentioned just above too) and it uses very very little resources, even while always-on-top (maybe <5% every 10 second pole - honestly why do you need to pole every 1-2 seconds?).

Re: Is there any harm of installing Batti or similar battery indicators ?

Thanks all for swaying me away from vistahide, I ahd never used it and was about to use it...

I have always been batti fan (which incidently means 'power' in my native language) and stuck with it... but given that I am trying to prolong the batter life I am looking at everything that can cut power usage on TP.

I will be going to dci battery.

Also, does the EVDO connection stay on for you guys... ? I think I saw somewhere an app to cut it off afetr 1 min of idle use... will hunt around and hopefully use that too.

Thanks again.

And imho it should poll no more often than once a minute... maybe even set it to 5 minutes with the feature to check when you first turn your TP on.
