Switching from Rom to Rom

I have seen a lot of people on here talking about checking out all of these rom's. I just downloaded Juicy 6, and want to move to Juicy 7 or maybe try out Mighty. I was wondering do you guys backup immediately before you switch to another rom? Wouldn't that mess up some things when restoring a backup from an old rom to a new rom?

Unrelated: if anyone knows why I can't connect to activesync after downloading juicy 6 (which means i can't go to another rom), please let me know.

Usually for me after flashing my phone I have to reboot the computer before active sync will work again.

what backup program are you using? i would suggest PIMbackup 2.8 to backup all of your contacts messages, and all PIM data/
To install just extract the file and place it in your storage card! theres no cab to install this!

to fix activsync you need to uncheck Enable faster data sync on every rom you flash!
to do it go to
Start>Settings>connections>USB to PC> uncheck Enable faster data sync
if this doesnt help do a hard reset
also after every flash you do you need to hard reset!

I have completely skipped backing up (save for ActiveSync) before moving to a new ROM. Pretty sure Sprite would react very negatively - with system files, and the registry. I wouldn't think it would work at all. Now that I am on a ROM I really love, I will probably use Sprite. That way if I go back to this ROM I can pickup where I left off with all my apps, and shortcuts, etc...

Check your Connections Tab and click on the USB-PC and make sure it is set for ActiveSync.

mighty rom isnt the best for the verizon touch pro especially
its all oppinionated you should flash as many roms as you can and see what you like best or even better make your own! use someones kitchen like lllboredlll or ssk or JD or caulkins or erice. there are many great kitchens out there
IMO i like lllboredlll's roms and kitchens best

You can still flash another rom even if you can't connect to activesync. Put your phone into bootloader mode (tri-color screen).
Hold down your power button and volume down button at the same time and insert your stylus into the reset hole in the bottom. Then after a second or two your bootloader should come up. Then you can flash another rom.
As far as not being able to connect to activesync, it isn't anything with juicy's rom, you will have to open activesync and end the partnership your phone had with your pc on the last rom and set up a new partnership between the two with the new rom.

you need to lower your pagepool to 6-8 on juicy for it to be good and it doesnt slow the rom down
ive use mighty and for some reason i wasnt very crazy about it.
it seems like most of the roms now all have the same theme
i want someone to create another rom fully customized and themed (like the forgotton xweaponx rom!!!!!)

Re: Switching from Rom to Rom

i must be lucky cuz i never have to reboot my pc (or my laptop when im flashing from bed lol) when i change roms, sometimes i dont even disconnect the cable between roms and im so lazy i just open up mymobiler to see the phone, but then i gotta re-align the screen by hand manually which is a pain! i remember a past rom for my titan that would bypass the alignment rom, i wish some master chefs would cook that into their roms in the future...

...also i set all my roms page pool to 32mb this gives me about 120mb free ram @ softreset on my favorite rom and about 100mb free ram with all the other roms and a very fast rom most of the time, i used to set to 48mb but that was abit excessive and i couldnt see any improvement just less free ram

Re: Switching from Rom to Rom

If you go into device manager and uninstall the network drivers for the phone and do a re-scan it'll generally "reboot" activesync and make it work again without rebooting your PC. This is only if you leave the sync settings at the default.
