Plea to chefs.. can anyone extract and post 6.5 graphics drivers?

To any chef who may have some time to spare, I wanted to make this request. From day one of owning my Touch Pro I noticed that the graphics rendering in landscape on may apps was noticeably slower and choppier than it is in portrait. Many others have posted here and at XDA that they have also noticed this.

I've tried many custom 6.1 roms but none of them have improved this issue. Today I cooked a rom using build 21500 of winmo 6.5, and found that it made a HUGE difference! Apps that used to animate horribly in landscape now run butter smooth.

The only problem is that, so far, I am really not too happy with the overall performance and features of 6.5. Some of the tweaked 6.1 roms I've used are blazing fast and extremely stable, with much better memory management, far better overall than 6.5, leaving me stuck between a rock and a hard place.... better landscape performance, or better performance overall?

Would any chef here be willing to take some time and extract all of the graphics based .dll's (such as ddi.dll) so that they can be copied over the existing system files in 6.1? I tried to copy them myself using Total Commander but recieved an error.

This would be greatly appreciated!

sorry, we are still using DDI from 6.1; we don't have a DDI from 6.5.

I think you want GWES instead; you have to realize we use old drivers still simply because HTC hasn't updated them yet.

Re: Plea to chefs.. can anyone extract and post 6.5 graphics drivers?

So you think GWES.exe is responsible for the improvement in landscape performance?

For example, using the benchmark feature of SK Tools Lite, running the "Bitmap Draw" test:

6.1
Portrait: 180 bitmaps in 25 seconds
Landscape: 132, and the rendering is noticeably tearing and choppy

6.5
Portrait: 172 bitmaps in 25 seconds
Landscape: 165, not noticeable choppiness or tearing.

I will try to copy GWES using Total Commander and see if I can overwrite that into 6.1's file system.

EDIT: NOPE! Can't copy out GWES using Total Commander. No2chem could you extract and post the gwes.exe and mui files from 21500 here?

Re: Plea to chefs.. can anyone extract and post 6.5 graphics drivers?

well, I decided to be a little bold and try to work this out myself.

Went into my 21500 Kitchen files, into the SYS folder, and found gwes.exe in the OS sub folder, and the MUI folder in the language subfolder.

I copied them over into my 20954 kitchen, replacing the existing ones, cooked and flashed.

No dice... phone gets stuck at the radio version splash screen

I really like the graphics on 6.5 and would really like to see them implemented on a 6.1 rom.

Re: Plea to chefs.. can anyone extract and post 6.5 graphics drivers?

If it *is* the GWES.exe that is making the graphics render so smoothly in landscape mode, I wonder if there is a way to make the 6.5 GWES.exe work in 6.1, because simply dropping it into the kitchen did not work...

Hoping no2chem or some other chef's give this their attention...

GWES is a core part of the operating system... first of all,

(1) it must be implemented as a module; you can't just copy it over
(2) it probably depends on a lot of other stuff, so you'll have to copy other stuff over
(3) why not just live with wm65?

Re: Plea to chefs.. can anyone extract and post 6.5 graphics drivers?

I figured there might be some dependencies there, but this is kinda out of my league at that point, as far as knowing what else to copy from one kitchen to the other or if it can be made to work at all.

I wanted to like 6.5... but really it is slow and clunky overall, compared to the custom 6.1 rom I've been running. It also takes up about 10 MB more ram, even with Titanium disabled. I'm a lucky VZW Pro owner, so 10 MB makes a big difference.

Also I am not a fan of the start menu settup, and a couple of other things that just bugged me so far. Some bugs that I found as well... I just didnt feel like I could use that day in and day out.

Of course, I will wait for newer builds and hope for the best... it's good to finally know for certain that the landscape issue CAN be fixed... I jus hope that it could be 'retrofitted' into 6.1 in the meantime.
