Noob needs help

Hi,

I'm having a weird issue when trying to flash a custom rom. I picked up a new htc touch last week, had it flashed to my carrier, then proceeded to unlock the phone. Everything went well with the unlock. I then installed Mighty's 4.16 rom and that went well. I read up on Juicy's rom, so I tried installing it on my phone. Everything looked like it was working fine, only, once Windows mobile asked me to tap the screen to get started, I can't get past the align screen. It's like it's in some type of loop. Tried flashing back to Mighty's rom, but got the same results. Any ideas of what I might be doing wrong ?

Thanks in advance for any replies/assistance

Mike

Re: Noob needs help

you sure you got the right rom for your device? you said you picked up a new htc touch, not touch pro. those roms for the TP wont work on an htc touch.

Sorry about that, yes, it is a Touch Pro.

Re: Noob needs help

I've had this happen, but not an infinite loop. It asked me to do it 4 times, then continued setup as normal. Most of the time its only 2 or 3 times in a loop.

The first three times, i was using my fingernail to hit the crosshairs. The fourth, I used stylus and got really accurate with my pushes. That's literally the only thing that gets me through those alignment loops. No idea what causes it or anything, so YMMV.

Hmm. Ok. I'll try what you suggested. I just finished reloading Juicy 6, by putting the phone in bootloader mode and bypassing Active Sync. Thanks for you reply.

Re: Noob needs help

THAT DID IT!!! I guess I wasn't being accurate enough in my previous attempts. I pulled out the stylus after the fourth try and after 3 more tries, everything started working again. Thank you so much for the tip.

Re: Noob needs help

You should always use the stylus to align the screen.

Re: Noob needs help

i had to do it about 5 times once. You have to use the stylus and you have to be pretty exact, the best thing to do is to tap firmly on the target, then wait a couple of seconds for the target to move and lock on. The key is to wait for it to get to where it's supposed to go, sometimes it's laggy and sometimes you don't tap it firmly enough for it to move, just be patient.

Yeah, I get it. I guess I was moving too fast and "not" being patient. One last noob question; did me flashing to a custom ROM update my radio too, or do I have to install a separate ROM for the radio ? As I said before, thanks to all of you for your help.=D>

custom roms do not include a radio rom. so you will have to go to the radio thread and get one there if you want to flash one.
