Disabling direct push

I'm having a problem here with direct push screwing up my data connection. While tethering, every once in a while, direct push will become active. When this happens, my data connection will freeze for about 10-20 seconds, then my evdo will be bumped to 1x when the data connection resumes. Then it will stay on 1x anywhere from 2-5mins. This becomes very annoying, especially if I'm downloading because I end up pausing the download and either waiting for connection to go back to evdo, or turning the phone on and off through the connection manage to restore evdo. I did the trick to keep set activesync to manual setting by setting up the fake server (from the old mogul tricks), but direct push will still randomly freeze my data connection. I've done several searches, but the only thing I could come up with is a program that would enable/disable all data. Obviously if I'm tethering, I don't want to stop all data...only direct push.

Re: Disabling direct push

Go to active sync click menu>schedule> set both options "sync during" to manually.. then turn off push... that's how I fix mine. I hope it helps!

Re: Disabling direct push

The connection settings in TF3D has an option to disable push email, might work for you.

Why donate to one person, when you can support the site that makes it all possible instead

Re: Disabling direct push

I already did the activesync trick (I remember that one from the "mogul days"), and I don't see an option in tf3d to disable push, just the slider in the connections manager. The slider is already set to off, but will slide to on randomly while I am tethering. The strange thing is, that I have flashed with different roms and yet I still have that problem, so hopefully someone knows of a program, reg edit or some kind of fix as I really have no use for direct push.

are you using push at all? because if you not using push, you shouldn't have that problem.

Re: Disabling direct push

No, I don't use push at all. The thing is, the drop down to 1x happens randomly, not on a regular schedule. It also seem to occur when i visit certain websites like facebook or myspace, and even then it isn't a consistent thing. The way I figured it was push was that when my connection times out, I know that the drop down is getting to happen, so a few days ago I happened to get into the connection manager quickly enough to see that push was active. After that whenever I had a timeout, I quickly went to the connection manager, and every single time, push was active.
