SPL Update Failed on One, Good on Other Device

Cannot figure this out...

-Same computer (laptop)
-Same process, no changes (outside the file)

I have VZW Touch Pro and I successfully unlocked my phone using the SPL update here located here...and following the posted directions..

My best friend bought one from Sprint so I began the same process connecting to PC and beginng the SPL 0.37 update. Everything goes well get into the boot loader screen and it shows USB connected. Then it shows the progress percentage on both the PC & device. It never moves past 0% and soon I will get a communication error. Even if I manually put the device into boot loaded mode and start the process...it's shows the progress window on both but will error on communication error...

I have read & researched and still no luck getting the Sprint TP spl loaded to unlock the device. It worked fine on the VZW TP so what is going wrong?
