OK I am lost and such a novice I am way overwhelmed

OK I hate my Verizons TP Flo interface and would love to get SSK 1.5 installed.

I got it downloaded, got the rom and OEM files moved started the batch. Selected the files and it freezes at step 5. says something about spooling

Could someone break it down on what my process should have been. Did I miss a step?

I read somewhere I needed to unlock my phone first and tried that but was confused there too.

I think I am over my head but thats why I am sking all you experts for help =)
